Update: I cancelled the order for the Gates after reading some bad reviews and bought the Motorcraft. Gates used to be good stuff. Now even their t-stats are junk. Thanks to all who replied!

I've been reading the additives start breaking down at 6 months. I'm retired and don't drive much. I use Kirkland oil and do it every six months. I use to go 5k miles and never had any problems. I get bored, so I don't mind doing it.
