    1500W Inverter

The photo looks just like my Prius Prime PHEV. If it is, the 1500 watts is coming from the hybrid/EV battery and it is a robust source of power. I have powered up all the 120 volt circuits in my house from it during a power outage including running two fridges, lights, electronics, etc. The...

What was the first car you worked on regularly?

My first car was a 1973 Lemans, I learned the same stuff starting back in 1981 plus brakes, carb kit, antifreeze, battery, starter, timing chain, etc. It was pretty normal to experience a very noticeable engine operation improvement after a tuneup up back then!

This is a classic BITOG topic! Here’s a great 8 page discussion which I found very entertaining! https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/crush-washer-truth.388496/

What Types Of Oil Properties Matter For An EREV Whose Engine Is barely Run?

It’s a bit similar case to my Prius Prime - it’s been over 2 months since I filled up with gasoline and I still have over 3/4 of a tank. I just check the dipstick and the underside of the oil fill cap for signs of moisture -whitish mayonnaise. If I see that, I force the engine to run by...

Lucid Air Gravity- Closing Gap W/ Ice

I agree that the video is 95% unnecessary words, patting themselves on the back, and about 5% interesting content. Entire video could be done in about 10 minutes max. But, Lucid does seem to have made some significant advances in EV technology. Building the differential into the motor is a...

Time from feeling full from a meal to feel hungry again...

I’m currently doing a “One meal a day” diet to lose weight. Most days I eat from 2pm to 5pm and then nothing, zero calories until the next day at 2pm. Just black coffee in the morning. It took a while to get used to, but now it’s surprising how I don’t feel that hungry until close to my...

The Prius is one heck of a name plate

I’m loving my 2024 Prius Prime SE! 50 miles of EV range and then about 50 mpg in hybrid mode. Plus good looking and fast enough.

The price for the Toyota bZ4X is falling sharply at the dealer auctions.

I suspect that Toyota has engineered the battery and charging system very conservatively to ensure long life. As a result charging is slower, acceleration and range are modest. But time will tell. For example, on my Prius Prime the battery capacity is 13.6 kWh but only 10.5 kWh are used for...

    F150 ABS issues

Hello all. I’m having issues with my 2014 F150 ABS system and looking for advice. Brake and traction control warnings are on and the Ford dealer has recommended changing out the ABS module including the pump, valve body and control module at a total cost of just under $4,000 Canadian dollars...

Car and Driver list of best vehicles assembled in the U.S.

You obviously didn’t read the Porsche Dakar review (July 2024 issue) by John Phillips - it was funny as hell - I laughed out loud several times! Best C & D article in many years. Yes, I agree, the car itself was absolutely ridiculous and irrelevant, which he did acknowledge.

    Gambling with non-OEM brake pads?

The times that I have had vibration when braking, after brake work, I have been able to fix it by aggressively bedding in the new brakes - aggressive acceleration followed by strong braking, repeated a number of times. Have you tried bedding in the brakes?

Car prices to rise due to tariffs and certain vehicles possibly ...

This is good for you and less burden on the environment but, it will result in a global recession, if tariffs stay in place for very long. Everyone will lose.

    Toyota Crown takes 0w8 oil

Consumer reports still ranks Toyota reliability excellent based on 2022, 2023 and 2024 models. This is after recently substantially refreshing almost every model. I’m going to trust that Toyota engineering is still solid and I’m currently running the recommended 0W16 in my 2024 Prius with...
