Yes. A typo. Sorry about that, and thanks for the correction.

    Valvoline Extended Protection 0W-20, 2341 Miles, 2018 Mazda CX-5

Happily, this report is about as boring as a UOA could be. In the 4.5 years I've owned my naturally aspirated 2018 Mazda CX-5, I've only driven it 15,000 miles. There were just 2341 miles on this sample--I change the oil annually for warranty compliance. I drive infrequently, but when I do, I...

Yes, it definitely does have CD. 2018 was the first year for CD in the CX-5.

    Mazda guys...

My 2018 CX-5 is naturally aspirated, not a turbo. If there's a way to see a display showing CD activity, I'd love to know about it. Pretty sure no such display exists for a 2018 CX-5 sold in America. I think I've seen forum posts about such a display in 2018 European models and perhaps even...

    Mazda guys...

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned an "energy management" display that indicates when cylinder deactivation is operating. There is no way to access such information in the 2018 CX-5, at least in the American version. (I think that may be different for European models.) The only way to get...

    Aftermarket Mazda Specific Oil Filters

Not sure this is correct. The PE01-14-302B that was factory installed on my car (built early 2018) was made in Japan. Perhaps that's changed since then.

    Mazda 1WPE-14-302 Design

In my initial post, I shouldn't have referred to it as a Roki filter. I don't think there's a brand name on it or the box (other than Mazda), but it is clearly labeled as being made in Thailand.

The ends of the metal core are very slightly recessed from the clear, hard ring of whatever material is on the ends of the element. That material is quite hard, and very slightly textured. The texture makes me a bit skeptical that it is soft and pliable (and thus able to form a good seal against...

    Mazda 1WPE-14-302 Design

I'm not totally sold on the design of the Thailand-made Roki Mazda filter, 1WPE-14-302. The thing that bothers me is the possibility of leaks between the outside chamber and the inner core. The shiny areas on the top and bottom of the media where the filter element interfaces with the steel...

What happened to the 100,000 mile spark plugs?

I just checked the scheduled maintenance for 2021 models on Mazda's website. It's still 40k for turbo and 75k non turbo.

    Mazda Skyactiv PE01-14-302A-MV Cut Open

This Mazda part number, PE01-14-302A-MV, filter has been cut open and posted before, so I'll just show a couple views that weren't in that post and an imperfection that caught my attention. The gasket between the top of the filter element and the baseplate is distorted. It's difficult to tell...

What Size Oil Filter Removal Flute ?

Walmart sells a Hyper Tough 65-67mm "F" cap wrench that fits the Fram 6607 filters perfectly. It also fits the Wix 57002 slightly less well, but adequately. Its fit on the Mazda 1WPE-14-302 is somewhat sloppy, but might be okay. I haven't used it to take that filter off, so I can't guarantee...
