    Subie you can change the gauges in your display screen to show engine oil temperature. I dont have an ascent in front of me right now but I've done it before on one. I believe I was able to select which options of gauges to display for a certain information screen.

    If the OP is concerned about unfiltered engine oil I would recommend ponying up for the fram endurance FE7317. I take care of many subarus and have seen the new Ultra and carquest tear a handful of times in them which wont happen on the wire backed Endurance.

    Have a 2006 Express with the 4.8L that I will be dropping the pan to replace O ring and inspect pickup tube that does exactly the same thing. 20 psi cold oil pressure startup which will dip lower with more rpm. (Lifters will start clacking if driven too much, cold) and then 35psi idle builds up...

    That is concerning. There were glue pieces on the outside of the media but it does not appear to equal the approximate volume of glue missing from the center tube of the filter. Even worse, this would have been unnoticed if the end cap hadn't come apart to see it

    I do not believe I damaged the filter opening it. It cut clean in the cutter and no damage was done to the can removing it from engine. 2nd question that is the start and end of the media glued together.
