Engine oil recommendations for Skyline GTR?

That's what I thought too... until I read this: "Of those 28 global launches slated for the 2005-2007 fiscal years, seven will be all-new vehicles. Along with the Cube, Nissan at a media event here also reiterates plans to bring the ultra-performance Skyline GT-R States-side as well. (See...

    Turbo Cool Down? and Synthetic

Long story short, yes you do. I'd suggest getting an electronic turbo timer (HKS, Greddy, etc...). Select your desired cool down time, put it in park/neutral, set the e-brake, remove your key from the ignition (it'll keep running),lock it up and walk away. I had one on my 88' Supra.

engine, tranny, diff oils, which ones for 2001 prelude?

American? My buddy has an SH... they're all over the place around here. I'd agree with Titanium's suggestions regarding the oil & tranny fluid. Just make sure the ATTS (if you have it) doesn't call for anything 'special'. Never seen Motul anything around here. I'd probably go OEM Honda for...

NAPA'S NEW SPIN FLOW OIL FILTER

http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=001113 Does the term 'spin flow' make anyone else think of the 'Tornado'? Sounds like marketing hype to me. I didn't know they were making the XD filters for commuter vehicles? I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks!

    Torco SR1 5w20 Sleeper oil?

True... but I'll be running Delvac 1 (or the Truck/SUV 5w-40), come spring in my Integra. I'm sure my recently calibrated butt-dyno won't notice the 2 whp loss. And I think I can live with a few less km's per tank, at the expense of knowing my engine is well protected. Just my $.02

    Torco SR1 5w20 Sleeper oil?

Viscosity @ 100 deg. C = 7.31 Also sounds low to me. dustyjoe1, you're in Texas, right? Why would you want to run something like this anyway? I'd try their 10W-30 or 40, but that's just me.

Repeatability of Oil Analysis Testing - Same Lab and Two Different Techs

As a rule of thumb, your 'gauge' (whatever it may be) should have 10X the resolution of what you are trying to measure. So, in this case values are being reported in PPM (parts per million). The equipment being used to gather those values 'should' have resolution to PPB (parts per billion).

Mobil1 Study and Honda's extended first drain

checked out SAE.org and it'll cost ya ($12 to download). "SAE Technical PapersDocument Number: 2003-01-3119 Book Number: SP-1810 Title: Antiwear Performance of Low Phosphorus Engine Oils on Tappet Inserts in Motored Sliding Valvetrain Test Meeting Where Presented: SAE Powertrain &...

Repeatability of Oil Analysis Testing - Same Lab and Two Different Techs

I'll throw in my $.02, TooSlick; from an automotive QS-9000 point of view. What you are trying to perform here are several Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility studies (GR&R), at a single lab (commonly called Measurement Systems Analysis). Paraphrasing from the MSA Manual - 3rd Edition...

What is that stuff on the bottom of some bottles of oil

    Tap engine block or filter?

Form (aka. Roll) taps don't make chips. Just a thought. Check out Guhring, Balax, etc... Should be able to pick up a decent form tap at any decent industrial supply place like: DoAll. However, I don't know how well they would work on a hole which has already been tapped. Cut taps want to remove...

Any doubts about 10,000 miles on various M1 products?

Sounds overly ambitious to me; no way it would make it with me driving. Just check the level often. I find M1 (5W-30) burned off pretty quick in my Integra; say 1L every 2000km or so. Why do you care about using 'recommended viscosities' if you aren't going to follow recommended OCI's...

    Wix filters for Hondas

The 1344's I've been buying are Napa Gold; in a Napa Gold Box. If memory serves me, the diagram on the box states 'silicone ADBV'. I think they might be cheaping out on the ADBV as these are typically used in towmotors. I doubt Wix even knows that us Honda drivers are even using them. I'm going...

    Wix filters for Hondas

Let us know if the ADBV is nitrile or silicone. The ones I've been getting are black nitrile (Napa Gold, same thing).

GC real hard starting in Canadian winter

I doubt it's the oil. My Integra is starting just fine. My guess would be battery. I'd take it to the dealer and get them to check it out.
