    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

I'm afraid not (not for Hondas, Toyotas, and lower-end models of other brands).

    Which oil would you use?

Esso 0W30 XD-3. Rationale: - it is a full synthetic (PAO basestock) - it is much more affordable/cheaper than other synthetics (e.g., Mobil 1, GC) FYI: Esso XD-3 Product Data Sheet Esso Bulk Distributors in Atlantic Canada

Will GC increase or decrease gas mileage?

Ditto. I noticed no change in mileage when I went from Mobil 1 5W30/10W10 to GC, and from GC to 0W40 Lubro Moly (now) in my 4-cylinder B16A2 Civic.

    GC for new Subaru Forester?

    But Joe1 didn't mention if he's a 2.0X (N/A SOHC) or 2.0XT/2.5XT (Turbo DOHC).

GC vs. M1 (for real this time)

I'm interested in knowing what generation/trim your Civic is. My 2000 SiR has/had been "lubricated" by M1 5W30/10W30 (4800km - 75000km), GC (75000 km - 85000 km), and 0W40 Lubro Moly (85000 km - now). Honestly, I haven't noticed any "significant" difference in terms of mileage or performance...

What if there was no more GC?

I'll try Esso 0W30 XD-3 or revert to Mobil 1 if my stock of GC (current stock = 40 Litres ) can't be replenished any more.

    NAPA GOLD 1334 in Canada

Hi all, I just bought 2 NAPA Gold 1334 from one of those NAPA stores. Obviously, they were made in Canada (" Made in Canada for/pour/para UAP Inc. Montreal, Quebec H1N 2B3") and shrink wrapped. I wonder if Canadian NAPA Gold are the same as their American counterparts (structurally) and they...

To all recent Honda Owners- At what mileage did you change your factory fill?

2000 Civic SiR (B16A2): - Factory fill dumped at 4800 km (~= 2983 miles); Used M1 5W30 in the winter & M1 10W30 in the summer between 4800 km to 78000 km on the odometer. (negligible consumption -> about 100 mL max. every 6000-7000 km depending on frequency of VTEC engagement) - have just...

    Has Anyone Become Brand Loyal?

Yes, I used to be a loyal "die-hard" Mobil 1 user... But just switched to German Syntec (Castrol) last month for this Canadian winter.
