Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

Oh yeah, I mean like the latest formula is a step up and could have less noise. 😀

You’re changing mind. Might try the newer M1 0w40 formula.

Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

Interesting, since it was shear stable after 5k, what do you think would cause it to have more noise than others?

Oh yeah. I saw too many praising it. I got on that bus. 😂

Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

Do you think I should stay with the 0w40 M1 if I get the newer formula or go with the QS/PPE 5w40, concerning my chain concerns?

Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

This is bottle of M1 I still have that I bought months ago. The Walmart website shows different specs. Must have got an update in formulation.

I was thinking about going 5w40 QS since PPE is MIA around here. I’ve read that’s it’s pretty much the same as PPE.

Wow, here in my area, no PPE in 3 Walmarts.

Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

Switching to M1 0w40 causing more chain noise

I had been using 0w40 castrol and switched to m1 after reading several threads here praising it over the castrol since it has lost some certs with its latest blend, however my 2006 Vw Rabbit has developed chain noise with this oil. I have done two OCI with it and after about 2k the noise...

    Castrol 0w-40 LL-01 ?

Yeah, I saw that one. It’s the new formula. I’m good for a little bit. I picked up 0w40 M1 $5.20 a quart, 15 quarts. I’m always looking ahead though. I wish 0w30 Castrol was priced like 0w40 Castrol. Thank you for your input.

    Castrol 0w-40 LL-01 ?

Every bottle that I have look at on Amazon is the new formula. When looking at pic of the back of the bottle shows the new shorter list of certs.
