This is a very fair point. With the hybrid, and normal driving, we are seeing around ~165F pretty consistently with ambient temps in the 35-50F range. One really needs to get on it, or do some 70mph highway driving for a bit for it to even get close to 200F. That is the total opposite of my WRX...

Fair, and I apologize. When reading your original post it seemed abrasive and judgy of the engine in general. If that wasn't what it wasn't meant to be, I can easily blame that on the brain to text to web back to brain conversion. In text, things aren't always how they seem. Again, my apologies.

Is yours a hybrid? I'm only curious because of the recommendation. Non-hybrids are 0w-20 according to the manual. A jump to 30 is clearly the next step.

I'm confused. This isn't turbo. Honda has never had a boxer motor as far as I know. We've all seen a crap UOA, but this one isn't crap. Very normal break in stuff, but no wear otherwise. It seems like your opinions are locked in and have nothing to do with what is actually going on in the report.

Thank you. I appreciate any feedback, and the generalization you give might be a solid overall recommendation. But let me tell you why one might disagree. Warranty... The car is brand new. Hybrid... Oil temps rarely break 170F this time of year, and it is going to get colder. Plus... my '03...

I searched far and wide for a used oil analysis of the Subaru full syn 0w16 and or FB25 Hybrid and I didn't find anything useful. Even a VOA would have been great... maybe I'll do that next time. I'm sharing our first UOA of the second oil change @ 3,388 miles, with 2,847 miles on the oil...
