What are you using to protect the underneath of the mower deck!?

I also use Rustolium Professional High Performance spray, first the primer then the top coat. It holds up well, but not for ever. I tried many things over the years. I was once going to try epoxy coating for boat hulls, but it's expensive and it may end up cracking off anyway.

"Multi" ratio oil... can i still mix it at proper ratio?

Basically what Tall Timber is saying is that it's a 50:1 oil, the same as almost all two cycle oils today. Sure you can mix any of them richer, and the extra oil will equal more smoke, oil out the exhaust, and shorter time plug fouling based on these other ratios.

Car oil used as two cycle oil

Fifty years ago 20w and 30w oil was recommended by two stroke engine makers including Lawn Boy. A little later Lawn Boy came out with their own oil that was an improvement but not by much. One of the biggest problems with the xxW and Lawn Boy oil was hard carbon. Hard carbon caused the death of...

Oil Mix for Two Stroke Single Stage Snow Blower

That has all the looks of being run on straight gasoline with no oil.

Car oil used as two cycle oil

Both the use of 30W oil and the 32:1 ratio are long outdated. Fifty years ago this was the norm, but I don't think your snowblower is that old.You can use one of the many two cycle oils that are available today at a 50:1 ratio. Two cycle oil technology has come a long way.

    2-cycle mix ratios

The nature of any two stroke engine using premix is that at times of low rpm and idling a small amount of oil accumulates in the crankcase. When the rpm increases this oil moves out of the engine and what burns burns and what doesn't burn blows out in the exhaust. It has been this way since the...

    is 50:1 enough oil?

I went through a similar learning experience around the same time. I kept raising the mix ratio, first from 32:1 to 40:1 and then settling on 50:1 with the mineral based oil I use. At one point I tried Amsoil at 40:1 and found it was way too much oil (it pooled in the muffler). Amsoil and Opti...

    Controversial oil question

Your $100. green brick top sounds like my ‘75 7024. It now has 265 hours (hour meter) since it was rebuilt 4 years ago, The spark plug has yet to be removed. One of the questions I am trying to answer is how long can a Lawn Boy two cycle run before fouling a plug. I check the ports at 100 hour...

    is 50:1 enough oil?

"However it would run with more power and longer with 32:1 (or anything in between that, and what you run now) - if carb was tuned properly to your mix." Please tell me how much longer my Lawn Boy 7024 will run and how much more power it will have running 32:1 ? Since I rebuilt the engine to...

    Harley main shaft seal (pics)

Maybe contact with some strong cleaner from the outside. When seals are made the rubber compounds used are cured by heat after being molded to the metal ring. These compounds are kept cool in a temperature controlled area until ready for use. The composition of the compound ,storage...

Do You Prefer A 2 Cycle Or 4 Cycle Engine

Why a two stroke mower? Because its the best engine for the job. The power to weight cannot be matched by any four stroke, and it makes self propelled look like the rigmarole it is. Lawn Boy mowers with self propel are the least sought after for this reason, and I always believed Lawn Boy only...

Can somebody explain biodegradable 2-cycle Oil?

No luck needed, 50:1 doesn't require it. Whatever those commercial users were mixing and using is unknown to me. Were the damaged engines straight gassed at some point and then later given a oil mix? And what kind of oil were they using? and who mixed it? A lot of questions here. I know the...

Can somebody explain biodegradable 2-cycle Oil?

I was a Lawnboy servicing dealer when H-D began selling them and I can't tell you how many Lawnboys were brought to me for warranty with burned-up F-series engines due to running 50:1 mix in them (many/most of them were commercial users, most homeowners who burned them up were from running them...
