    Clean your guns..

Took three .22 handguns to the range today: A Ruger Mk III 22/45, a Beretta 21A and a Ruger Wrangler. Cleaned all three when I got home. Took maybe an hour (I was being fussy). I dunno ... don't per se like cleaning 'em, but all of my firearms run well and look great. Seems a pretty minimal...

Anyone heard of "MaxxTech" Brass 9mm?

I've run it in my .380s and 9s. Gave me no problems.

Where Do You Buy Your Ammo?

For a search engine, I like wikiarms.com SG, Target Sports USA, Academy, Midway ... all good outfits, IMO. Of late, Academy has had some good deals (pretty much pre-scare prices) in common calibers -- .22lr, 9mm, 5.56, etc -- five box limit on any one item, $5 flat rate shipping on ammo. Good...

    Shooters Lube

And the poster who noted the Shield is an easy gun to care for is right. Been running one since about the end of the first year of Gen 1 introduction, and it's a breeze, really.

    Shooters Lube

Four ounces of solvent and two ounces of oil for $20? Looks very good at separating the gullible from their money. Try any decent CLP instead: BreakFree, RoyCo, G96, ClenzOil, Ballistol ... whatever your bag is. You want a sprayer or needle-tip applicator? Amazon or the craft store is your...

    Sound - Ear Protection

Best protection for a very loud area of a range is to double up ... properly inserted foamies under a decent pair of muffs. Personally, I've found active protection is adequate around most pistol-only shooting, .22 through .45 in non-magnums. It's a godsend if you're teaching a class or serving...

    Essential Tools for Gun Cleaning

A few good companies to keep in mind for cleaning tools/supplies, IMO, include Bore Tech, Shooter's Choice and Pro Shot. Re where to keep it, up to you, but a tool box, tool bag or ammo can all work. Personally, I have a table set up for cleaning and basic armoring. Below is a list I posted on...

Not bad as a cleaner (it's nearly half solvent in terms of composition), average at best as a lubricant, a bit on the lacking side as a long-term protectant. There are better CLP products. That said, if you clean and inspect regularly, it should get the job done.
