Do you idle your turbocharged motor to cool the oil before shutting it off?

I owned a turbo s60. It was extremely robust, and the turbo was a lower pressure unit, I think it maxed out around 6 psi. If that Volvo is HOT, it will run the radiator fan after you shut the car down for as long as it wants to. It really won’t dip hard into the turbo unless you are really...

    2001 Nissan Xterra

Buy it, change ALL the fluids, change every hose and belt that looks tired. Get a history on the timing belt and look into it.

    Tire Weight vs Rolling Resistance

Not arguing. You bring up a good point. As a truck owner I do track it, (but agree I’ve heard many say they don’t “because it’s a truck” and almost get irritated at the notion of having to track their costs) because they are expensive to own (in the last 2-3 decades) to begin with. The huge...

    2001 Nissan Xterra

Solid vehicle, IMO an end to their best era. Torsion bars up front, may have already been tweaked to lift it up some. These were fun. We had a 97 pathfinder with that drivetrain and find their description entirely believable. $2500 is a steal for a running vehicle - the 2WD probably hurts his...

Good Car Bad Car - VW making the tough business decisions

Oh by this you mean the slate with that little rolled off back suv cap? Looks so much like a rabbit

What are you working on today?

Had one of these as a loaner. I loved it. Loved it. It had the lighting package and roll down windows in the back and got killer gas mileage, mid-upper twenties. If I needed a van and couldn’t have a newish sienna (which I think are superbly executed), this would be the one.

Rental review: Polaris Slingshot 2021 automatic

A friends dad has one, and the family is a bike family. Issue: if driven hard the single rear wheel in the back cant keep power to the ground.

Has the hurricane moved passed the camshaft failures? I love me a straight six!

What are you working on today?

Nailed it. Jetta, probably 83 Clocks tend to work in 4 out of 5. Most frequent failure is 2 blown caps on the power input, and since it’s 80’s, they can be replaced. Sometimes a part is missing like the second hand. If I can get the clock working, I shoehorn the sylvania ZEVO 164 led lamps...

OEM Kubota skid steer batteries lasting 8 years

I wonder if they are built with additional internal bracing for severe vibration? Maybe they are robust AGM with a little extra? Maybe similar to a sailboat-ready odyssey or Trojan?

    2020 Frontier - Tires again

Destination LE3 is a good tire. We had a set of destination LE, which was a darn good tire, and two sets of the LE2. LE2 was also a very good tire, it’s only limitation is the typical wet traction issues in a RWD truck. These will get you much farther than a cheap bargain tire.

What are you working on today?

Working on another clock to give to a family member. You can guess the make and approximate age if you want for fun.

    GSA 2017 F150 XL

If I’m not mistaken, thats a naturally aspirated v6 and the 6 speed transmission which was more reliable than the 10 speed that replaced it. If you enjoyed the vehicle it’s a good one to get.
