I wouldn't bet on the Champ filters being cheaper, even accounting for international shipping. Indian labor is pennies on the dollar compared to US workers and their labor and environmental protection laws governing the factories are lax.
It doesn't look as well made as the PGI stuff we've...
Hmmn, agreed that that doesn't look very good. Maybe I'll pick one up just for curiosity to disassemble and see if the new production stuff is any better.
Was browsing around Donaldson's website and noticed they appear to sell a filter for applications requiring either the FL500S or the FL2127, the P577066. Has anyone had any experience with these, or with Donaldson oil filters in general?
They don't give a 99% or 99.9% micron rating but they do...
How do you explain Sequence IIIH being part of the API test battery if it's gas that causes the problem? By that logic, all oils should score identically on IIIH because it uses a specific test fuel.

Devil's advocate question: is there any reason to run these if you don't plan on exceeding the 10k limit from the Premiums (et al)? The media backing is nice but I don't think we've seen a Premium fail before, and I think I'd honestly rather have the increased efficiency.
Impressive lack of varnishing even with the extended intervals. In general I would hold real-world testing in higher regard than laboratory test results, especially with a worst-case scenario like a taxi fleet and given how engines have evolved in the last decade vs the "standard" benchtop...
That's the conclusion I've arrived at, unless you either a) have a European vehicle that requires a more stringent spec or b) just want to support the boutiques.
