It ended up being the seal after all. They also found a torn cv boot. At shop now. Thanks for all the help. Much appreciated.

Just changed oil, air filter, and mower blades on my John Deere Z915e which has the 25 horsepower Kohler engine. Mowed afterwards. Used 15w-40 vs 10w-30 as per recommend on here. So far so good.

My AAP had some Fram branded oil buy 1 quart get 1 free. Didn’t ask price of quart...oil any good? Might go back if good?
