If there is metal present on the volume control valve, damage is done.
I’d try changing filters, put fresh fuel in and see what happens. If it runs decent, trade it in. If it doesn’t, you’ll have a difficult decision to make.
wiring harness, done correctly, is labor intensive. Providing it’s the entire engine harness. The pcm, take about 10 minutes to change, and probably a half hour tops of programming.
Dealership techs won’t do overlays. Replace it all or nothing. Ford probably sees it as an opportunity for...
I’d run an overlay long before I change an entire engine harness. Glad they’re on the right track
What are they charging you for that? Full parts price and full labor? I hope not.
No, more than likely not, especially if you’ve had it there 10 years. If it was tied into the injector circuits then I would say possible yes but if it just is a starter interrupter then more than likely not a problem
I could have told you that. PCM failures are not common. It’s a shame there are no good diagnostic techs out there. I’d offer to look at it for you, but you’re quite a distance.
As I said before you have wiring or ground problem, last possible cause is some kind of electrical interference...
Had an interesting one today. 2017 ford explorer police interceptor came in for multiple warning lights on and a parasitic draw that would drain the battery completely over night. Checked for codes with IDS had multiple misfire codes for specific cylinders and random. Also had air bag light...
Many times in situations like this, resistance checks are not enough. The wiring must be load tested, and the pins on the connectors must be drag tested outside of the connector
