Comparison of cylinder and fuel injection cleaners

Amsoil PI is 80% naptha for what it is worth...just looked up the CAS# the other 20% is proprietary.

    Synthetics and motor smoothness

I just switched my ford 4.9 from dino 15w40 to Amsoil AME 15w40, and I can feel a difference. Is it a huge difference? No, but it does run smoother - I have even had passengers say so.

    Amsoil SDF26

Can anyone tell me if this filter has an anti-drainback valve? thanks, I can't find a spec sheet. Matt

    Amsoil SDF26

I just talked to the tech line, and he responded that the anti-drainback valve is further up in the SDF26. This explains why I cannot see it through the inlet holes. Can anyone verify this different design? I would really hate to have to cut one of my new filters open...

    Amsoil SDF26

thanks, I use it in an application that calls for the SDF15. I received two by UPS today, and I couldn't see a drainback valve through the inlet holes as per most filters(i.e. rubber/silicone flaps)...is it internal on these puppies?

    switching to synthetic...filter change intervals

yes, I was running Delo 15w40 and went to Amsoil AME 15w40. Spec oil for this engine is 10w30. I have the stock ford "anything over 8psi is good" idiot guage, so no real answer to your question. I have a mechanical guage on the workbench now, but am pondering a digital guage...

    switching to synthetic...filter change intervals

I remember a post a while back where Terry Dyson said that instead of flushes, he supported changing to synthetic with early filter changes until the engine was cleaned out... The general question to anyone is...how often should these filter changes be made. I changed to Amsoil in an engine...

Do you think all paper air filters are the same?

I just replaced a Purolator air filter with a Napa Gold, and the purolator felt fairly flimsy compared to the Napa. Huge difference, though I will add that the Napa gold was $4 more expensive.

    Cautions on Synthetic Lubricants...

I have noticed that Amsoil has no warnings (at least on the AME)...is this because the warnings are per the API, and no API cert means no warning necessary?

    Napa Gold vs. Amsoil

aren't Hastings and Amsoil filters both made by Baldwin? Are they the same as Baldwins?

    Napa Gold vs. Amsoil

I also remember that napa used to advertise that they were twice as effecient as competitors...so without trusting advertising...per your experience, what is the better filter for what I need... thanks, Matt

    Napa Gold vs. Amsoil

I have seen that graph and didn't really trust it because the napa gold should be the same as the wix - they are the same filter with different paint. I don't understand how they could score so differently.

    Napa Gold vs. Amsoil

I just switched my 4.9L F150 over to Amsoil 15w40 AME. I have been using NAPA Gold 1773 filters (a 1.5 quart capacity cross ref. of the Ford FL1A) I do not know how far I am going to stretch the oil out, but am planning filter changes every three months or so, which will be 3-4 thousand miles...
