A few weeks ago, I replaced the oil in my 2012 Cruze with Dexos 1 Version 3 but used a non-GM oil filter I've only driven 500 to 600 miles since then. Is it okay to replace only the oil filter with a GM filter without changing the oil? If yes, what is the risk of contamination?
