Not an expert at all, but my guess is that the incentives have the desired impact. Being a smaller, niche manufacturer means any incentives need to be extremely targeted.
Mazda sold 7,700 units of the CX-50 last month and 66,000 units for the first 10 months of the year.
I don’t believe sales of the CX-50 are in the toilet…up 145% in October over prior year, and 90% over 2023 YTD. September had a similar sales trend over prior year.
UPDATE: The dealership put their best technicians (including the shop foreman) on the diagnosis...and no issues were found. I pick the car up this evening. 🤷♂️
Vehicle is a 2021 Mazda 3 2.5 M/T with 60,767 total miles. The oil is Pennzoil Ultra 0W20, and the filter was a Mazda OEM (Japan made by Roki). This is the third oil analysis over the last 15k miles, as I am keeping a close look at the Potassium and Sodium, which has increased gradually (if...
Another Oil Change for the Mazda. Still Pennzoil Platinum 0W20 and Roki filter. 60,760 miles on car and 5,160 on oil (no make-up oil needed). Took sample for UOA to keep an eye on a Potassium trend.
@Urshurak776 I did have the car inspected at the dealer and it passed their pressure test last week. It is time for an oil change so I will do another UOA to see if anything has changed with the Potassium levels…I may also do my own tesing to see if any combustion gases are migrating into the...
Yes, once I get this Potassium situation pinned down, I will look to extend the interval for sure. 5k miles is not much of a challenge for this oil, especially in the Skyactiv non-Turbo engines.
Yes, I have a pressure tester. I was thinking of pressurizing the system and taking a peek through the spark plug holes with an endoscopic camera with the pistons at BDC just to see if there are any visible signs of coolant intrusion. I may just send a pair of samples out at the next change as...
Fingers crossed that this is the case, even though the Potassium level is just slightly higher this time. Really hoping that this is not a VERY slow coolant leak that is being burned off in the combustion chamber and will gradually get worse.
Vehicle is a 2021 Mazda 3 2.5 M/T with 55,600 total miles. The oil is Pennzoil Ultra 0W20, and the filter was a Mazda OEM (Japan made by Roki); this was the first non-Mazda dealer service. One interesting data point for this interval: around 2,700 miles were completed over 4 days on a cross...
