    Self Exiting alternator

The "light" component in the dash is an intelligent animal - it will probably not be shown on any diagram that we can access - it's being spoken to via the CAN bus in the dash computer where an instruction is received (from the ECU/BMS/BSS) to illuminate the thing - no simple direct lights to be...

    Self Exiting alternator

No idea since I do not have the actual thing in front of me. The pictured thing is the regulator/exciter - diodes/rectifier is still inside the alternator body (way more substantial). When you remove the regulator you should be able to figure out where the fat battery cable makes contact and...

    Self Exiting alternator

You can try removing the old alternator regulator from the alternator and plugging the exciter wire into that - make sure you have battery 12v and ground going to the appropriate points on THAT and it should kill the dash moan too - isolate the lot in a plastic case and you may get lucky that way

    Self Exiting alternator

Caution here - even though only a single wire, most all modern alternators in modern vehicles run on a type of LIN bus to tell the alternator if, when and how much to charge - the instructions come from a BMS/BSS or equivalent in the form of either pulse width signals or a varying constant...

Oil filter crush temperature, with no bypass.

"Crush"...............? Again please explain that mechanism. Or do you have an application where the oil filter is located before the pump? ..............if so pictured and models please or its simply not true.

Oil filter crush temperature, with no bypass.

Imposion .................. on a working engine.............. as in filtering dirty oil? How exactly do you see THAT happen irrespective of temperature and oil used

This is what happens when you fill the engine with washer fluid

It's probably still running with no adverse effects

    Running Lean. Where to look?

Both banks at the same time ..................... fuel pressure too low? - pump or filter if fuel pressure not instrumented?

OBDeleven -- is it really a piece of junk?

I would go for the Autel AP200(white) - yes brand specific but then so is OBDII and VCDS........................ and you get a standard OBD scanner on all brands

OBDeleven -- is it really a piece of junk?

Erm ................. downloading what exactly? VCDS installer is around 70M (needed about twice a year IF you feel like having the latest version and it takes you about 3 seconds) - so what else are you doing/requiring that I am unaware of?

Strange Engine Pinking / Knocking - 1950s 2L Land Rover

Knocking at high RPM and not low? Wanna say that is not when knock is usually to be expected - especially on such a low compression engine. Sure its knock (as in spark) and not as in mechanical (gaga oil pump?)

3000 Watt Inverter vs. Makita MAC2400 Compressor

    3000W @ 12V with a 6000W surge capability? Off a car battery?................ Yeah right

    Upgraded my Scan Tool

Can I ask you professional Autel users with expired free update periods.................... Do you guys also find the Autel bunch lying to you about the tool still "operating as before" after the free update period expired? I have an MP808Pro that has been running without an update now for...

Voltage drop on battery when headlights are OFF, fine when they're on

Possible that there is a BMS on the vehicle that wasn't told it's got a new battery? (IOW coded the battery properly)

C&P 2 new CarQuest 84356 1 Made in China 1 made in Vietnam.

Interesting indeed - thanks. Just me or is the angle of pictures responsible for making me think there is a difference in the shapes of the ADBVs? Nope - huge difference if you blow them up
