I live about 80km from Whittlesea. I cannot even begin to descibe what the 46 degrees C / 118 degrees F felt like on Saturday, or what the wind speed was like. The sky was black with ash and smoke all afternoon.

I asked Motul Oz the same question about 18 months ago and they told me Eco Energy is definitely Group 4, not Group 3.

Oil consumption in mine has been zero. I purchased it with a Lexus Assured Warranty with 42,000Km, it now has 49,000Km and due for an oil change at 50,000Km. It's currently filled with whatever oil the Lexus service department use, which I believe is Caltex 5 or 10W-30 mineral oil.

Going to use Motul 300V 5W-30 in my 330 at the next oil change in 1,000km time.

Where have you found Magnatec 5W-40 and 10W-30 Shannow ? I know they exist (Castrol Oz website), but I haven't seen them anywhere

I was previously using Mobil Delvac 1 5W40 in my Outback (EJ25) with a cSt of 14.7 - now using Motul EcoEnergy 5W30 (cSt 9.9) and there is zero difference in engine noise. However, the engine does feel more responsive everywhere in the rev range due to the lighter oil.

Shrug. There's two ways to look at it. I agree Mobil 1 is expensive as you mentioned, but I would also argue $50 is a awful lot to pay for Group 3 like Castrol, Valvoline, Shell, etc etc.

I'm using Transmax Z in my Subaru Outback, but I don't intend on using it in my Lesux RX330 - I think I'll stick to Toyota Type IV for that. I have lots of positives for Transmax Z though.
