    Shock Replacement Options

This dealer where I get my vehicle(02 Tacoma) serviced for oil change told me that my rear shocks are leaking. They quoted me $400ish for replacement. Should I get the front shocks replaced at the same time? They haven’t told me anything about front shocks so I am assuming they are still ok and...

Which oil for my work van?

My 1996 Dodge work van B3500 5.2L V8 consumes about a quart every 1000 miles. It has approximately 255,xxx miles on it. The engine requires 10w30 and I have been putting Mobil1 10w30 extended performance and change it out twice a year. I just have to add a quart sometimes. Since I am out of my...

    No Engine Temperature Gauge?

I recently test drove Toyota Camry and some Subarus. I do not know about other car manufacturers but I noticed that these cars were not equipped with the engine temperature gauge. I was so puzzled when I first noticed it. The salesperson at a local Toyota dealer told me that in the winter, when...

    03 Silverado 1500HD 6.0 V8

I purchased an used 03 Silverado 1500HD 6.0L V8 with about 40,000 miles. What sort of oil should I use? I looked at the filter and it seemed really small compared to the size of the engine.

    Toyota/Lexus dealer experience

AC on my Lexus LX450 has not been running cold since last year. I received a coupon for free AC check from a local Toyota dealer so I called them to see if they would check my Lexus. They said they would check it but when I got there after driving about 20 minutes, they would not perform the AC...

    ATF formulations

Is Pennzoil Dex III any good? It's only 4 dollars more expensive than Supertech and Walmart. Otherwise, I might just go with Valvoline or Mobil 1 synthetic.

    ATF formulations

With Mobil1 synthetic ATF never on sale unlike Mobil1 motor oil, I have always been hesitant to use them at $8.99 per quart at Advance Auto Parts. I guess I should just get the cheapest Dexron III ATF.

    People are checking oil!

Cars I have hardly ever burn oil and I check the oil level once a month or so. I do not see other people checking their oil levels with new cars.

    ATF formulations

I know that motor oil formulations are different from company to company. Is it the case with the automatic transmission fluid? I've been using Pennzoil ATF Dexron-III most of the time. I want to try Dexron-III from Castrol, Valvoline, or SuperTech. I usually drain and refill once a year or...
