You have had more oil consumption or less? What...
On both Subarus 06WRX(mine) 04 2.5RS(wife's). I have used Amsoil's ASL 5w30 to 20,000 ounce and have been using the TSO to 15,000 in hers since 1,000 and now have 118,000 on it and it really seems to like the new SSO. On my 06 WRX I have used the TSO since 1,000 miles for 15,000 OCIs now with...

I just change my wife's 2004 Subaru 2.5 RS over to the SSO from the TSO and I was a little skeptical if I would notice any difference. To my surpise the car was smoother, quieter, and felt like it didn't have to work as hard. Since I purchased a case I will change my WRX's oil also tonight with it.
I would stick with the SSO for DD and the track use because if the SSO is holding up well under high heat and stress, then the only thing the 10w40 will do is cause the engine to work harder to pump the heavier oil. Which equals less power you will be putting to the ground and slightly longer...

When I had my 03 civic SI, I went close to 36k+ with the TSO oil. When I had the UOA performed by CAT, it said that I could have ran the oil longer, but the oil did have a lot of SI(silicon)=(dirt) in it, which was due to the K&N air filter. So I know in a NA car I would trust it for 35K..
Amsoil is the best oil I have ever used. I ran the 0w30 in my civic si for over 35,000 miles OCI and the UOA said I could still run it longer but I needed to change the air filter because of the amount of silcon in the oil (---- K&N). I also use the 0w30 (tso) in my turbo charged WRX, only for...
