    Deere skid steer

I read the manual wrong. It says for high altitude reduce the interval by 50% but then it had an example chart that showed 60 hours instead of 120 hours. Manual does say 500 hours so that would be 250 for high altitude. So I reckon I will do it every 2 years and keep on warming it up when I am...

Polaris 925cc Turbo oil change interval

Polaris says every 50 hours, 1000 miles or once a year. If the machine isn't used much are yearly changes still recommended? I run Rotella T6 5w40 in it.

    Deere skid steer

I have a Deere diesel skid steer at our CO vacation home. Doesn't get used much. Put 63 hours on it in 4 years. Changed oil 6 months after I got in and this is the second time.. Deere advises changing oil at 60 hours vs 120 because of high altitude. When we are there I always warm it up to boil...

Better MPG with Exxon/Mobil Synergy Efficient Diesel

The better diesel has additives one being an additive to increase cetane. Cetane increases fuel economy. No mystery. The question is, do you run that fuel or buy regular fuel and add a quality additive like Optilube?

Thanks, I just drained and refilled the gearbox, hydraulic and PTO today. I used Traveller 90W GL1 mineral oil from Tractor Supply for the gear box and first reduction gear. For the hydraulics and PTO I used Hygard

Alternative for John Deere power steering fluid

I have been researching power steering fluid for my 1958 John Deere 620. I found lots of old threads on the antique tractor forums saying that you have to use Deere's AF2235R. They say the pumps don't work correctly unless its John Deere. Then others that use Hygard without issue. Here is what I...

    how often to change oil?

I have lots of equipment, John Deere tractor, compact track loader, Bobcat welder, Honda generators, mowers etc that aren't used very much. Some less than 5 hours per year, others maybe 20 hours. I change the tractor and track loader oil once per year. What about the smaller engines? Once per...

Increase oil change interval due to high altitude

Deere specifies high altitude as over 5500'. My farm in Texas is 850' AMSL. My place in Colorado where the skid steer is going is 8518' AMSL
