2012 Kia Forte EX eco - Alternator replacement @ 180k ...Napa wins the price war hands down and grabbed a new serpentine belt plus the top most idler pulley (but there are 2 idlers plus the tensioner no idea how the hell to get to the tensioner and lower idler(if someone knows how other than...

Knocking sound when coasting and only after I start driving in cold weather

Posted my UOA, noise was not engine internals. Found the engine cover rattling. Lose screws into the plastic with worn motor mounts made the cover bounce/rattle. What a terrible noise to have eradicated.

    Mobil One 5w30, 6000 mi OCI - 2012 Kia Forte 2.0L MPFI

MPFI yes. Right on about the engine cover being only for noise suppression and not heat insulation.

    Mobil One 5w30, 6000 mi OCI - 2012 Kia Forte 2.0L MPFI

Heres a 6000 mile oci of Mobil One 5w30 ((GF-6A, API SP Resource Conserving, SP, SN Plus, SN)) 3.5qts mixed with Service Pro blended 5w20 ((API SP-RC, ILSAC GF-6A)) .5qt Kinda did the analysis because engine was making a rattle - Then Blackstone came back saying they didnt think the rattle was...

    Nokian announces One tire

...The Nokian dealer I got my One 's from told me eventually they would have bead "seated" on their own. They are great in 2" to 5" snow thus far!

    Nokian announces One tire

Hey for what its worth, my Nokian One tires did not "feel" balanced when I left the tire shop - I did watch them balance all 4 so yes they were balanced....so I brought them back to have them checked... The result was awesome - the Nokians are sooo stiff, that they do not mount NOR bead seat...

Knocking sound when coasting and only after I start driving in cold weather

My '12 Forte now has 183k on the clock. Mine is now making same noise as yours. I've been digging into the KIA FSM manual about it....interesting engine...When the valvetrain gets wore out, you replace only the lifters or tappets as KIA calls them. And they make like 25 "lengths" of tappets for...

    Nokian announces One tire

Just put a set of Nokian One 195/65R15's on my KIA Forte - kinda nervous about buying a tire that has zero online reviews as of this post but the dealer I bought them from says he's willing to take them back if I am not happy with they performance - so far they are the quietest tire I've had on...

    Hyundai OEM Filter specs

69torino, I'm gonna help ya out a bit...Your wifes engine was designed during a time when Kia/Hyundai were trying really hard to make a name for themselves - rebuilding their brand. The possible engines in your wifes ride were designed very well with longevity in mind, especially the 2.7L MU...

    Hyundai OEM Filter specs

waltywalt, You are right about the engine not making it to 100k - I also had my doubts...they realized Needed a short block at 96k on my 2012 Kia Forte 2.0L - Supposedly the piston skirts wore out causing piston slap, but it sounded like engine knock to me. Perfect oil change history on the...

    Oil & Oil Filters

As far as I know, you won't experiance any immediate issues with any poor filter. But an oil analysis will indicate how well its filtering. Do you have any of those for your supertech usages?

    Oil & Oil Filters

Supertech really?! Anyone else using these and think the backflow seals are adequate?

    Wal-Mart ATF any good?

I will have to concur with SuperTech ATF+4 being the shiznit. My 1996 Intrepid is used for towing, and I think the shifts are firmer and faster with this stuff. 181,000miles on its tranny My gas mileage has gone up after I flushed out the penzoil atf, but I can't really say that it was due to...

Oldmoparguy1, Thanks for the reply. I like your ideas and would like to share some info I found on the TropArtic brand. In a 90 mile radius from my home, there is no such thing as TropArtic being sold on shelf. Instead, the sister oil that has been on the shelf here for the last two years is...
