    Nulon 5w30 Euro any good?

I think its a pretty average oil. The VI of 147 is middle of the road and is a low SAPS oil. I also don't believe the oil is certified MB 229.51, BMW or VW approved. Its just 'formulated' to 'meet' the specs. Penrite actually get get their major oils certified (you can see their certificates...

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Yep I think I'll go with Super Synthetic as its almost half the price of TGMO ($9 vs $16/L). I would be silly into thinking the TGMO will offset it's extra cost over the OCI despite its superior VI and FMs.

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Thanks Shannow. I found a local dealer selling the 4L can for $66, making it 20% more expensive than AFE and almost double the cost of Mobil Super. With the unknown formula, I think it may an expensive punt!! Unless us guys Down Under is willing to pool some funds and get some VOA'd?

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Btw makes sense now. I found this as quoted by: Gokhan Originally Posted By: Gokhan Toyota 0W-20 SN is a completely different oil than Mobil Super 0W-20 SN, which uses the cheaper Afton additive package with Liquid Titanium and has no moly. Makes sense now. I think TGMO or AFE is the go.

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Clevy, sorry its Aussie colloquialism at work. "Bugger all" = basically none. No Mo or B. dave1251, I've seen the Super Synth in the 5w30 have Mo and B with a Ca detergent system but the UOA I posted shows none of that? Agreed with the Ti being a left over. Caterham, I'll give Toyota62 a PM...

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Caterham, I just figured that the AFE having having 1/3rd the MRV indicates a superior base oil. I did read a whitepaper showing that a decreased CCS/MRV for the same HTHS = better fuel economy too. I believe TGMO 0w20 goes for $100/5L but its hard to get. More expensive than M1 AFE too...

Mobil 1 AFE vs Super Synth 0w20

Hi guys, 0w20s are still hard to come by here but I'm looking at using one of these 2 in my '11 Lexus IS350. The OCI would be ~10000 miles. I noticed the S/S does not have Dexos 1 approval (whether they didn't submit for formal testing or it actually doesn't meet it is debatable) and the only...

    Lubrication science- In theory, shouldn't......

Don't forget that particulates in the oil which are larger than the oil film can cause abrasions to the bearings etc. Diagram

    MB 229.5 oil...

M1 0w40. I feel the PU Euro is a little 'weak' on the add pack but it still meets the spec. Plus the M1 has a a slightly higher VI.

    Weekend / track car10w40?

I'd give the Penrite 10/10ths a go. The base oils + stout additive package makes it very appealing. Its reasonably priced and can be bought cheaper than M1 0W40 and is around the RRP of the Shell Helix Ultra 5w40. As a bonus you'd be supporting a local Aussie company!

    Weekend / track car10w40?

If you can get your hands on Rotella T or any other synthetic HDEO, it might be worthwhile. How much do you want to spend? Penrite's 5w40 HPR 5 might do the trick as its LL-01/MB 229.5 certified so its a very good oil for the money. ($50/bottle) If you want to spend a little more, their...

    BMW-longlife spec

Agreed. LL-01 approval list is the way to go. I personally use M1 0w40 in my N54 however the Castrol 0w40 is appealing since it can be found cheaper.

    killer Price on M1 0w40

Man I envy you guys. $22/5qt is just amazing. We pay that per qt Down Under! ($95USD/5L)

Mobil 1 0W-40, 2010 Porsche Cayman S, unk. oil age

Seems to me considering it was a 13k mile run and the first OCI, it's doing pretty well. The oil did shear down by 2 cSt but nothing alarming. It happened here too in a similar Cayman: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2930610 I'd say keep going with the...

LOL talk about pulling a thread from the dead! Since then I've learnt a quality filter like P1 or M1 is all you really need these days for long engine life.
