25% of the first TBN. Did you ever get acid #s higher than the TBN on that schedule? I always like a TBN to be at least twice the Acid #. Any smaller gap and I like to get it out. I have a 95 Chevy Kodiak with the Cat in it.

A new set of pistons. Maybe if you had changed that oil out sooner and not believed the amsoil hype to justify those prices you be better off. You could have changed a lot of oil for the cost of that repair work and not had the down time on the truck.

Lp engines will require a special oil (almost ashless) or you will have a problem with sticky valves.

I have always changed my own oil, currently I use Cen-Pe-Co 10w30 with a hastings filter.

Why do you have to use a synthetic in a turbo?

There are so many oils listed on this site that I learn alot. But where can I go to compare current prices? I read alot here about Mobil1 to Amsoil and Red Line and Schaeffer and would like to compare prices without talking to some pain in the neck sales rep or getting on some mailing list...

If a sae 30 and 10w30 are truly the same thickness at operating temps then why the fuel economy change? I have emptied both 30 and 10w30 at hotter temps than I should have(ouch) and the 30 seemed to have much better body to it.

I may be old and my memory is poor, but isn't Penetro a teflon type of crap additive? Certainly a quality outfit like Schaeffers is not adding that type of additive. Also as far as the moly and the "Mashed Out" base oil, I can see that in a Extreme Pressure setting like a gear lube but I can not...

Just use a High quality Product and you will not have to waste time or money on aftermarket additives.

That Moly is just a selling point anyway. There is not enough Moly in there to do anything but show up on a Analysis. Schaeffers stenghth is there base oil, its the guts of any oil. They just put it in to help the salesman. Just like the Soy additive in some products. They make the farm...

Has anyone seen that a Powerstroke diesel is tougher on Viscosity? Possibly due to additive shear? I Have some analysis showing a viscosity on a 1540 dropping with no other reasons for it.

Does Case make their own fluids or do they hire it out?
