    Turbo leaking oil

The 0w-40 oil was in for a few thousand miles of local commuting, before the trip, so it happened at about 3.5k miles on the oil. It was a stupid thing to do, and now that the engine has a few miles on it I,m thinking about going from the 5w-30 to 10w-40. But after all this, I think I will watch...

Toyota Dealer Put Bulk Valvoline 5W30 in 07 Camry

LarkBill, why don't you use a Mobil oil for diesels instead of the Delo? Has Delo proven to be better?

I did not know that seepage caused ozone depletion. Has Al reported this, too?

    Turbo leaking oil

Thanks for all the info. This Volvo had a double Auto-RX starting at 140k miles. Under the valve cover it's like a brand new engine. From all the input, I think I'm going to look into the intercoller for oil, and pull the turbo to look at the seals and all that plumbing behind the engine. I've...

    Turbo leaking oil

Have a 96 850 Volvo Turbo used for 45 miles one way commute, 162k miles and the turbo is gradually covering itself with a light dusting of oil. Car runs great and just passed California smog. It's easy to wipe off and there are no drops of oil on the garage floor. Is it just a seal that is...

    energy independence

Half the polution of the oceans by oil and gas is from natural seepage. It has been proven many times that this natural seepage is releived by drilling. Of the coast of Santa Barbara, every 6 years there is the same amount of seepage as the Exxon Valdez. When Katrina hit, there were not major...

    Status of the Taurus?

You luck with this Sable should be considered average for someone that takes car of their vehicles, drives in a reasonable manner and lives in a good weather area. In San Diego there are plenty of Taurus/Sables running around. They are filtering down into the hands of the illegals and that is...

wich of this two trucks would you buy?

The Ridgeline appeals to a more delicate customer. There's nothing wrong with the Ridgeline, but if you need a work truck, you probably should buy something else. Look at how many real pickups end up in the hands of homeowners as a commuter vehicle. I know a guy that has a crew-cab dually diesel...

    brake fluid

What brake fluid are you using, and can you exchange the brake fluid the old fashioned way, pumpiing the brake pedal while working the bleed screws? And can you do it and not have to have the engine running?

    A call to FP users...

For those using a steady dose of FP, do you, once in a while use a strong injector cleaner like ProGuard every oil change or so?

wich of this two trucks would you buy?

You can get really big discounts on the Titan trucks and it's sister ship the Armada. Young kids are getting into these Titans, financed by Nissan with great deals. One of our employees got one as a first time buyer, after everyone else turned him down. He got it from the dealer with hugh tires...

5w20 in High Performance Turbo Engine

There's no way to know what blew up that VW engine. I don't think the 20w oil was the right oil for the job. I think that unless the engine is made for 20w oil, you should not use it. If you do, please do a uoa and let us know how it goes.

wich of this two trucks would you buy?

John, ask you friend how often he has had to change a V8 starter. The guy I asked, said, never. Same with adjusting the mechanical lifters, never. This engine appears to be a very good engine. The Nissan V8 is just beginning its trial by pickup and it will be interesting to see how it holds up...
