Crashed the Avalon, exploring replacement options

The real struggle is staying under 119mph.

Chinese electric vehicle brand comes to Mexico

No, automakers use normal cellular carriers just like you and me. But of course they don’t pay as much as you and me.

Younger adults not wanting to move from home for career opportunities

I know what it feels like. I left Canada for silicone valley. It was a huge decision as it not only uprooted myself, but also my wife and kids. Then I repeated the same and move to Texas. Overall, not just career wise, it was probably the best decision of my life. So it’s not like I’m averse to...

Digging in "big time" into my Hyundai this week

Impressive work and ambition, but dang, what sort of tune are we talking about here to require such drastic preventative measures?

    Mercedes CLA200 hybrid rental

I’m not sure what they were going for with this setup, probably carbon credit points. You could actually accelerate using only the EV mode, but it had to be super slow. The electric motor was also able to maintain speed on flat terrain, up to around 55mph, but that was rare. The best case for...

    Mercedes CLA200 hybrid rental

It’s no different than grabbing the handle with the key fob still in your pocket. And the keyfob still had the lock and unlock buttons.

    Mercedes CLA200 hybrid rental

Oh, another feature that was great was the self locking/unlocking as you approach or leave the car. It’s especially handy with passengers as they don’t have to wait for the driver to approach their side and touch the door handle.

    Mercedes CLA200 hybrid rental

Not sure how I end up with these mediocre models whenever I visit EU, while others seem to love their European rentals, but here we go again. I originally was supposed to get a compact CUV with a manual tranny and AC, that was about it, but this was offered as an upgrade and since I had a 3.5...

Kawasaki Z650RS for 1-2 hour trips?

The parallel twin category of bikes are like Toyota Corolla for cars. Not sure why you’re stressing over reliability. These are commuter type engines that were put into sporty looking bikes. Pick whatever brand you like, feel best seating in, and don’t sweat the reliability. Plus I bet most of...

YouTube advertising has lost it's mind and morality

The premise of OP is that Google had morality in the first place, otherwise how would they lose it? I would like to hear why he thought that was the case.

Younger adults not wanting to move from home for career opportunities

Doesn’t matter the definitions, it’s quite clear that if the incentives were increased OP would have a much better response rate, there is no question about that. The double standard is quite clear. When an individual complains about their job or pay, what are they told to do? Leave and look...

Younger adults not wanting to move from home for career opportunities

If the potential candidates aren’t willing to move, then that means the incentives aren’t enough. Young people aren’t stupid, they know the company has trouble finding talent locally if they’re looking for people from far away. Supply and demand, the basis of capitalism, something the older...

    VW Van- past and present

It was meant for boomers with money, it’s a dud. I guess boomers either don’t have the money or the nostalgia for this van.

Another technological mess on a newer Jetta.

It’s the cars data monetization that drives a lot of this. Everyone likes to blame regulations and EPA, but as a matter of fact, it’s the good old corporate greed that drives these crazy software systems, the hardware is generally pretty good. The coding is of course done by the lowest bidder...

Engine blew up in the shop.

Cost of doing business. I presume the tech drove it, at least into the bay, and if they didn’t hear anything abnormal, and me as a customer didn’t hear anything abnormal and the car was running when I dropped it off, you bet I would be blaming the shop. A running engine doesn’t just throw a rod...
