Please excuse if this doesn't come out as easily to comprehend as it is in my head.
I am curious what determines how fast each individual oil heats up to optimum operating temps?
I mean does 0w cycle faster and therefore heat up faster than say a 5w or 10w?
Again please excuse my ignorance...

Are you asking if I am getting a protune and oil pressure gauge? If so, the answer is yes on the protune. I will be getting an oil pressure and temp gauge very soon, just not this...
Ok guys sorry to bring this thread back form the dead but I have just decided to go stage 2 on my WRX and as a result I will be switching to a 40 weight oil. I did get PP on my last OC and it seems to be doing well, engine doesn't smell as hot after climbing my hill every day as it did with the...
Wow guys, there is so much knowledge on this site it isn't even funny! Who knew there was so much to think about in regards to engine oil? Unfortunately I am no closer to a decision than I was when I asked the initial question (actually probably farther from it haha) BUT I feel like I have...
I do plan on modding but I doubt I will ever do much track time, maybe a few autocrosses later in its life but who knows.
So knowing that, do you still have the same recommendation?
And can someone explain to me in laymans terms what the HTHS is and what 3.7 or 3.5 means in relation?
It seems to be a random thing. I've been using Redline 5w30 in my WRX for the past 20k and haven't had to add any. Others report burning a lot. It kind of makes me nervous to switch to something else, but I'm seriously considering trying M1 ESP 5w30. [/quote
Well why would you switch if you...

Wow guys thanks for all the input! I posted this right before bed and a wake up to a million responses haha.
I was under the impression that Redline met all of Subaru's oil specs but I guess I was wrong, now I am confused again. I thought I was read up enough on this stuff to make a decently...
Ok so for now I want to keep my warranty intact so I am forced to use 5w30 oil (will eventually switch to 5w40 or 0w40 after I increase my hp).
Just did my first oil change and luckily found this site just in time although not in enought time that I could get the ''best'' oil for my car. I...
