I suspect it's just water condensation mixed in. I tend to notice a milk chocolate color when I drain my separator in the winter versus the black oil in the summer.
I'm still trying to figure this one out myself. I think the spec (WSS-M2C936-A) that Redline DCTF (and Amsoil DCT) claim to meet is for a wet clutch DCT (MSP6). I don't think that was ever sold in the US. The spec the Mustang owners manual calls for (WSS-M2C200-D2) is for the dry clutch DCT...
As long as it meets WSS-M2C945-A you should be good to go. Stick with the Motorcraft filter, none of the others that cross-reference to a FL500S have a thread end bypass.
By any chance, were you able to take any measurements? I cut one apart a couple of weeks ago and counted 58 pleats, height of ~2.807", depth of ~0.347".
Normal service interval is 10k, 1 year, or the IOLM. For me the IOLM reaches 0% just short of 10k. Last two changes occurred immediately following road trips. I did go a little over, but Ford says "An oil change service must be completed within 14 days or 500 miles after the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED...
I try to check it every 1000 miles. My car tends to consume a quart every 5000 miles. I don't what percent is going through the PCV line. Not sure want to mess around with this during a long highway trip.
I've considered one, but remain undecided. It is adding a maintenance item, so I'm concerned about how frequently the catch can would have to be drained and the consequences of failing to do so before it filled up.
I have a longer commute (19 miles each way) with a highway segment. I get the "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" message ~50 miles short of 10K. Your second test seemed to decline slower than your first test. I would expect shorter trips to result in shorter life, so the IOLM appears to be working as...
I do not plan to extend the OCI beyond the factory recommendation of 1 year, 10k, or when the IOLM indicates (Especially while still under powertrain warranty). That is why I did not get the TBN. I did run the IOLM to 0% plus a couple of days.
I'm staying with the FL500S for now. I have not...
It has been pretty much consistent at a quart every 5K. The old filter came off easily with oil on the outside, so some of that might have been leakage. I made sure the new filter got one full turn. I'll see how that ends up at the next oil change.
