    Overfilled Engine Oil

Over filled a bit like that won't hurt. Only time overfilling has ever caused issues is when the dummies changing the oil accidentally drain the trans instead and end up doubling the engine oil. Once your car is running, so much of that oil is pumped throughout the engine. To have the crank...

    RO water in radiator/car engine

Thank you Gyro, yes indeed this water is filtered through 4 pre filters (not part of the actual system) then it goes through the system called a MilliQ, which does much of the things you described. Then it goes through more filters in the cleanroom and a polisher (4 ppb typical reading) but I'll...

    RO water in radiator/car engine

Just wondering if anyone knows if this would be safe (mixed with coolant of course). I have access to RO water at my work as we have a filtration system that's used to make ultra pure RO water for use in a clean room. It's free so if it works fine and won't cause issues in a radiator/car then...

    My worst oil change ever

I did an OC once and started the engine after finishing and my dad yells stop there's oil pi$$ing out everywhere. I laughed and said yeah right nice try. I look down and half the oil is squirting out everywhere... so he wasn't trying to play a joke. Double oil filter gasket. Never ever have I...

Is it GTL? Seems to have slightly different marketing on the bottle. "Flexi Molecule" technology lol

Repco also has Shell Helix Hx8 5w30 for $35 if you're a repco member. Pretty good for a full synthetic. Non member price is $53. Signing up is free. They were even happy to use a dummy email.

    Alternating Oil Brands

Considering the majority of the oil is drained each service, it won't matter much. Yes maybe 15% is stuck on parts and in other areas but like SR5 said, formulations are often changing in the same oil.

Never Change Oil - Delvac Challenge

This don't change the oil idea is kind of cheating when you burn 1 quart every 5k miles or thereabouts. That's a 25% replenishment plus filter, maybe 30% oil replacement every 5k miles. It will keep going a long time like this I think.

any reason not to use a 10w in the south with hot temperatures year round?

W number is going to be almost irrelevant in hot climates. In fact, compared to super cold areas, a mono grade 30 would be potentially thinner than a 0W30. Use whatever 10W oil without hesitation. Just make sure it suits your engine. Eg, maybe you need a newer API SP for a direct injection...

Castrol EDGE Euro Car 5W30 A3/B4 VOA

If not stated already, it's rated SL due to the higher zddp levels. SN/SP want it maxing out at 800 for each or something along those lines. This oil exceeds that and slaps API SP in the face with its zddp coated hands.

Might be worth raiding supercheap and making them price beat repco too. I did it recently for trans fluid and they beat the other price by $1. Not bad considering you can pull up the catalogue on your phone and they will beat it.

    2023 High Mileage Oil comparison

Interesting video, I quite liked that. So TBN is a little bit of an old, not so useful measure these days. According to that video, the PP HM even though it has less oxidation levels, would have the same amount of seal conditioner as the non HM oil would have a lower natural oxidation level due...

Are the days of the 10k OCI over with?

Don't most manufacturers recommend a 5k or less interval for severe service, which is everyone who's not doing highway only driving?
