I’ve used the Redline before. Don’t know if it did any cleaning but I know using some form of gas treatment every once in a while is a good thing. I did recently just fill up at a Techron station so I do have that circulating in the tank right now.

I wasn’t gonna use it with the VRP. It’s for future use or if I cant get ahold of VRP for some reason.

I can’t find the Yamalube but I did see this Star Brite ring free+ in the store that someone told me was the same thing but cheaper and easier to get ahold of. Not looking to spend $30-$60 on a fuel additive unless I really have to.

I did get a bottle of the HPL EC30 from a buddy to use at a later time if needed. Still have about 3 QTs in my jug for top off during this OCI. Pretty sure by the end of this month I’ll be adding another quart or so.

I’m leaning towards stuck rings since the engine only has about 170k miles on it. The engine came out of an 04 accord. I have 2000 miles to go on this OCI before my next change. Maybe I’ll see some improvement in that time. Looks like it’ll be around October when I change it.

Ok so it was a blueish white smoke not black. At one time it was black smoke but that was before I changed my catalytic converter and o2 sensors.

Mostly after cruising at highway speeds then flooring it hard I’ll get some smoke out the tailpipe. I’m inclined to think it’s the rings sticking which is why im hoping that this restore and protect will work for me.

Oh I forgot to mention but it does smoke on full throttle acceleration looks like black smoke. I’m thinking the rings are stuck but I have a little under 2000 miles to go for my next oil change. I’ll be sticking with Valvoline Restore and Protect and see how it goes after this next OCI. Worse...

Update so I’m back from my trip. It ended up being around 1300 miles total. I did burn 2 quarts of oil during this trip. I burned 1 qt going and 1 qt on the way back. I am glad that I bought by a 5 qt jug of the oil before this trip since I was able to top off with it both times. Not sure...

So small update. So far I can say the amount of time between top off has increased and the oil burning has gotten a little bit better. Now I’m at about 900-1000 miles/1 month before I need to add a quart. I’m still running the 5w30 Valvoline Restore and Protect. Soon I’ll be taking my trip and...

I’m using the 5w30. Never been a fan of anything 20wt so I’ve always used 5w30 or 10w30 in all my vehicles with a smattering of 5w40 at times during the summer months.
