    Recall Alert: 2000-2004 Toyota Avalon

I have (or my wife does) a 2004 Avalon. The steering "lock" was always a question mark to me, it does not engage unless the wheel is rotated at least 1/2 a turn after the ignition is turned off. I always thought that was strange, as GM vehicles lock the wheel with much less movement. It should...

    Ran out of Gas?

Thanks everyone, I also suspected sloshing, which is why I made sure to mention the stop/go, the hill, and the gauge fluctuating. I still have the sticker, being the original owner, and it says 20 gal tank. I normally *don't* go below 1/4 tank very often, but I still find it hard to believe it...

    Ran out of Gas?

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, so here goes. I'm driving a few days ago, and getting to about 1/4 tank of gas left. I normally fill up at a station near my home, and had about 5 miles to go on a 50 mile round trip. As I accelerate and slow down in traffic, my gas gauge is...

Say Hello to my Little Friend

Just put this in, a K&N XStream. Yes, I had some reasons, the Thermac bypass was stuck on hot most of the time (it's a mechanical system with no vacuum motor), and the snorkel intake hose was collapsed a bit. The only "emissions" control I lose is the Thermac air warmer, which always seemed of...

RTV sealant compatible with synthetic gear oil?

I just read this on the Amsoil site. I recently changed my rear diff oil to Severe Gear 75W-90, and used Permatex red RTV (high temp) to seal it, will this be a problem? [6] 1988-99 models Do not use synthetic lubricant in axles using RTV sealant. Synthetic lubricant will chemically attack RTV...
