Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

At this point it's Amsoil or HPL. I'm going to make the decision soon. I got a quote from HPL and it's honestly not as bad as I thought for what they claim it will do. There's only good thing about them on here too so I believe it will be backed up. I will say one thing their customer service is...

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

It's a water and oil cooled ball bearing turbo. I have some extra inputs on my terminator X I could temporarily add a temp sensor. I don't want to add the oil cooler if it's not necessary. It's just more complexity, more lines, opportunities for leaks, etc. This is interesting information. At...

I reached out to HPL. They are working up a few options. They believe their products will be fine for an extended OCI in my application and hold up exceptionally well. I've never used that "top shelf" of an oil before. I guess I may try it for a summer and see.

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

Just personal. I built the whole thing with a friend in our shops/garages. There's more water/swamp then there are woods around me so it makes more sense than a side by side or anything else.

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

I'll read the oil pan temp after running it hard. I know it's not exact. But it will be better than nothing. I have 2 friends with similar boats (turbo V8) and been running for up to 3 years with no problems and no oil cooler.

No oil cooler. No one runs them, I've never seen one on anyone's boat. Like I said it runs pretty cool, and holds 8 quarts.

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

I believe my bearing clearances are good for a 40wt oil, I would have to go back and find them. In my research the "more is better" isn't always the right approach. It's making plenty of oil pressure at the current weight. I guess I could try a 50wt. I just don't know if I really need it. I...

Can you speak to this oil at all? As I said before I haven't seen anyone using the Premium Protection on here or talk about it at all. Like the formulation etc.

Thanks, this was my thought too. I was using that Driven before. What do you think about using the Amsoil and changing it more frequently? I just haven't seen anyone using the Premium Protection on here or talk about it much.

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

I think I'm leaning this way because I can still change it pretty frequently at that price point. @Pablo any opinion? I don't want to go above a 40 wt. The motor makes REALLY good oil pressure. Talking 70-80psi cruising. It doesn't need a 50 wt I will reach out to Dave. How does someone find...

Engine oil recommendation for Turbocharged Airboat

Posting a potential unique situation, and looking for insight from the experts here. I've been researched and have a few ideas. I have built a forged bottom end, pretty aggressive cam/valve train LS (V8) with a turbo running on e85. It is making about 750-800 hp but I plan to turn it up to ~900...

Standard WIX it is. Thanks everyone

    Wix 51060XP

I just saw something that compared then and yeah the standard actually filters more! That's crazy. I guess I'll go with the standard 51060.

    Wix 51060XP

I did a search and didn't see any info on a Wix 51060Xp or Napa platinum 41060. These both look like an upgraded standard WIX 51060. Has anyone run them on a small block Chevy?
