I’m not an engineer, not even close.
I believe if you take some time and think about this, you will see what I am saying.
Or pick up some wrenches and loosen up some shocks! 🙂
OK I am going to assume good faith here, and that I am not getting punked. 🙂
Go out to your car. Pull up on the fender. It doesn’t take much, right? You were able to raise it 1/2” or more without getting He-Man on it, right? The spring and the mass of the car are at equilibrium when at rest...
Yes I am familiar with the mechanics of suspension. In real life gas shocks can and do change ride height. Depends on what came off and what is going on. Rather amazed that nobody here has experienced this before. It’s a thing, fellas.
Some are saying that cars are so complicated now, we shouldn’t expect the reliability of the past. I don’t think it’s complexity at all, I think it’s lack of development. Lots of reliance on modeling and less on real world (expensive, time consuming) testing has gotten us here in my opinion...
No it wasn’t a one off. When I found the problem was actually the ECU, there were many rebuilders selling them. It wasn’t uncommon at all once I went through the right diagnosis door and found a world of failed ECUs.
I’m not complaining about the LS400 I own with the starter in the V. That...
I know this is OT but allow me a rant.
Many Toyotas in the extended family over the years, worked on them all. the more I see, the less impressed I am. Here’s a fun story:
Latest to come across the transom was a Scion that the ECU was leaking voltage to one of the trans solenoids at all times...
Interesting statement, but I beg to differ. In my experience a lot of OEM stuff is more than 50 percent gone (damping) at 100k miles, sometimes even more than that. Also I have taken more than one vehicle for alignment and was told the struts were allowing such movement in the shaft that it...
I have some recent experience for you on the same vehicle, except it’s a ‘07 T&C.
Went with 4 KYB dampers first, was ok until one aluminum spring perch cracked, and I had to find a quick solution, so went with KYB quick struts up front. Worked well except for coil bind when hitting deep dips...
Yes, if you know what a new damper is supposed to look like, you can make a mold out of tape and fill with 2 part urethane, probably 50 durometer, which seems to hit the mark in all the cases I’ve done. You can buy it from McMaster or Grainger.
I have no idea who you are talking about.
And I don’t understand your Canada speak.
And, I don’t have an oil named after me.😊
But, like I said before, RP (most) often delivers the lowest “wear numbers” (quotes , ha) in a series, still, just like when we’d discussed this a few months ago. There...
