Outrageous Dealer Add-Ons and Fees - When Will They Learn?

Last 2 cars I bought new in 2022, Toyota's, near the height of the "covid shortage", paid under MSRP. Had to drive 250 miles to get the price I could tolerate. Local dealers, forget about it. Don't be starstruck by big numbers. If a loaf of bread was $100 at the nearest store, but $2 across...

Starship liftoff planned for Thursday, April 20

Brilliant, terrific success for the 1st launch of booster 7 / stacked Starship. The much improved booster 9 will launch in approx. 2 months. Multi engined rockets may be able to launch with some engines out, as we saw today. More fuel can be pushed through the working engines, or, ascend with...

Tell us your engine failure stories....

Morris Minor, overloaded with family, flat out on the M5 until the engine seized near Worcester. My uncle let it cool a bit, then took off the head and put it in a stream to cool it down. He thought he knew more about mechanics than he did. Poor car, it wasn't built for that kind of abuse. A...

    Castrol Transmax ATF+4

I picked up 24 qts. too, can't go wrong at $4 each. Free delivery too. Our Town & Country is about due for a fluid exchange, so this was timely.

    Hyundai Accent 2003 ATF recommendations?

The shift quality on my wife's new 2007 Elantra started to go south at about 40K miles. Did a fluid exchange and put in ATF+4, probably SuperTech, whatever was cheapest. Shifted like new again. Now up to about 160K miles total still on the same ATF+4, still shifts like new. No plans to change...

    H9 Long Life Bulb ?

Lubeguard makes their own ATF now?

Hypothetically, you put this new juice in your under warranty Hyundai. The tranny dies. Hyundai says your unapproved fluid caused the fail, warranty denied. Lubeguard says the fluid is fine, it wasn't the cause. Then what? Did I mention how expensive lawyers are and technical expert testimony is?

Best H11 headlights for color, visibility, life?

Another vote here for the H11 to H9 conversion, and the Philips bulb from Amazon. You get a 50% brightness boost, same beam pattern. You won't get anywhere near that brightness with any legal H11 bulb. Generally, the H11 55W to H9 65W power uptick won't cause an issue, YMMV. The H9 bulbs will...

    Hyundai elantra ATF???

If your moms car still has the factory warranty, put SP-III in it. ATF+4 works great on our Elantra. My wifes '07 Elantra has had ATF+4 in it since 50K miles, and its nearing 140K miles now on the same fill. I'll do another fluid exchange at 150K miles, just as routine, because the fluid isn't...
