What Year Did you Start Using Synthetic Motor Oil?

I used my first Synthetic oil around 2002 when I drove my first used 96 Ford Escort. I remembered using Castrol Syntec 5w40 made in Germany aka the GC. Lots of people having fun hunting for it. I switched to Amsoil Red cap until my car's engine was dead. I am still using Mobil 1 5w-20 for my...

    Post your cars high mileage

2008 Honda CR-V 4WD 189,000 miles For the first 90,000 miles, I used synthetic like Mobil 1 5W-20 , PP 5W-20 (interval 6,000 miles) Until I moved to California and haven't had time to change so change oil at the honda dealer every 10,000 miles. Engine light came on, changed oil pressure sensor...

    maxlife atf

I used on my 04 Civic. It is a great ATF. No problem at all. It shifted better in the cold weather. I was happy with it.

    ATF for Civic auto trans

I used Maxlife ATF in my Civic 04. I like it better than Z1. I do now know if it's better than Z1 or not but the shift quality wasn't degraded. I saw Valvoline also introduced the ATF for Import vehicle too.

    Civic 07 LX Automatic Tranny

I used to use Maxlife ATF in my old civic. At that time, Honda did't have DW-1. It was a lovely Z1. The Z1 changed color quite quick in my Civic so I did the first ATF change about 13K, I continued to use Z1 til 50K and decided to try Maxlife ATF. I have to say that it is great fluid, I...

Recommend Trans fluid that meets Honda ATF-Z1

I am currently using Maxlife ATF. I like it because of price/quality. The dealer wants $9 for Z1 so I don't mind using alternate products at all. I am using it for over a year now. So far so good. I used to use Amsoil ATF too but It felt too slippery when I drove (I suspected that my...

    New Vehicle Break-in

Honda Owner Link website stated that a new car comes with special oil because the engine needs to develop proper wear so they recommend to leave the oil as long as.... check the schedule in the manual :D

Picking up a '96 Escort next week -- suggestions?

I used to have that 96 LX (1.9L) back in 2003 (After I bought, I wish I got the GT model which has 1.8L DOHC ). I used it for 11 months and the engine died on me ( one of piston broke!! not from the motor oil though. I think after I sent it to the shop to get the timing belt done. I assumed they...

How Important is it to use Z1 ATF in a Honda?

My experience, since I used to use my car for food delivery a lot. I believed my tranny and Amsoil ATF doesn't go that I have expected. Even though It is smoother when I drive but when it comes to shifting gears, it is worse. I don't blame the Amsoil ATF because my tranny was not in a good shape...

Favorite oil in a Honda engine?

I uses SynPower 5w-20 in my 04 Civic VP since I got them cheap at Murray's. Other than SynPower, - M1 5w-20 ( always my choice because it is easy to find when other don't have discount.) - M1 0w-20 (back in year 2004 - 5) - German Castrol Syntec 0w-30 ( Really smooth but... !!!) - Castrol...
