EcoBoost 3.5L 2016 Explorer Oil usage question

That's a number one concern but I never see any oil consumption nor add any. Well built engine it appears.

EcoBoost 3.5L 2016 Explorer Oil usage question

Oh I truly believe in the oil I use but only have only used it with a naturally aspirated engine. I'm using the twin turbo setup on the wife's car as a test bed for the grandson's car. I was going to twin turbo my F-150 but can't do it anymore so I gave the grandson all the turbo stuff. He will...

EcoBoost 3.5L 2016 Explorer Oil usage question

The oil is their signature line. The shop resets the monitor after each oil change.

EcoBoost 3.5L 2016 Explorer Oil usage question

Wanted a UOA but the USPS lost the sample. Next time I will get 2 samples. Driving conditions are what a city only car to be. 20 miles to work. Stop and go at 40 mph max. Once a year a 700 mile trip using the highway. SUV only sees WOT a little if I drive it with my grandson as a passenger.

EcoBoost 3.5L 2016 Explorer Oil usage question

Wife has a 2016 Explorer 3.5L EcoBoost SUV. It has 10k miles on it. We use Amsoil 5W30 or wwhat is recommended. The oil filter is also Amsoil. The oil is changed once a year in the fall. Now we did this with the 2013 same motor SUV with no problems. The question is she may just keep this SUV...

So I converted a car to E85 today

Just run stainless steel instead of rubber hose. If you want to run hose see if you can find a PTFE lined hose. Yeah not cheap but you don't have to worry about it in the long run.

    Aftermarket fuel system

This is a Ford setup. 43psi is normal I believe. The new pump over powers the stock regulator. I have to finish the system by installing the new fuel rails and regulator designed to work with the new pump. I have only run the engine to check the system worked. I guess I will have to call the...

So I converted a car to E85 today

Yes the beginning of the learning curve. Took like 8 weeks for the liquid steel to lose itz grip on the chromate dip. If it was exposed to 100% gasoline it never ever lost adhesion. We were looking for all aspects of a carb that would be affected like fuel curve and even wear. When I went E85...

So I converted a car to E85 today

I put together the first carbs for the E10 project at Holley. We had them on slant 6 engines and drove them 5 days a week for the longest. I had used a liquid metal to modify the carbs and it was located in the fuel bowl of the one barrel. You could machine this stuff. By the time the testing...

So I converted a car to E85 today

30% is about all the stock computer calibration can compensate for. I just change the stoic to 9.765 from 14.08 and all is well with the 24lb injectors up from 19lb.

So I converted a car to E85 today

Carbs made just for E85 are available. Holley made some for Ford in prototype. We had them plated then had to resize all the screw holes due to the amount of plating. Never saw another one of them come thru as a production piece or found out how the program went. If you want to defeat the...

    Aftermarket fuel system

Finished up the fuel system and truck fired right up even after the fuel being a few months old. The fuel pressure is now 53PSI. That just makes the injectors think they are bigger than rated. Weather is so [censored] I will wait for spring to put in the new fuel rails, injectors, fuel pressure...

Hope you have a safe move. Never want to live in Wayne county any more. Same for Macomb.

'Wrist pin noise'? How serious an issue?

Oh and when I took the rod cap apart one shell was under the other. Looks like the deck clearance was taken up just so the piston slightly hit the head not making a clattering if both shells were in their respective positions. I had to get the car back and just run it up to around 100 mph and...
