I've got a '21 Limited (2.5L) as a daily driver and I -really- like it! My sister also has a '24 Premium and loves it as well.
I'm 6'5" and don't have any issues with it.
I wanted a NA engine. I'm not a fan of those small t/c'd motors manufactures are using these days.
If you watch a lot of his videos, he mentions "treemonkey" and he refers to him as the "godfather of performance chainsaws". He is the builder of my saws. He lives a couple hours from me. He is the guy in the video I posted above talking about lack of lubrication on the 661 crank.
I...
I ran HP2 in my saws for a few years and I liked it as well. Although when I looked at my spark screen after cutting this winter it had some tacky buildup on it. I spoke to the builder and he said that those very thick oils like HP2, Bel-Ray H1-R, Red Armor, etc may be a bit too thick to run...
I run 32:1 in all my saws. Currently I'm using Amsoil Dominator, as my builder says it's the cleanest burning oil he's used. These are builders who have 1000's of saws out there doing forestry work all over the country. These are not fly-by-night guys. Any saw porter/builder worth anything...
You mentioned you only did one drain and refill with HPL fluid. I don't know the capacity and how much comes out when draining, but in my TR580 in my Crosstrek, I only got 5.6quarts out of it during the initial drain. That's even with dropping the pan and removing the pickup screen. Based on...
If curious/interested. Here's the video the guy above is referring to and who is the one who supposedly destroyed the transmission.
All I'm finding is that one Robert guy claiming all of this. I'm curious to know what the facts are, regardless.
So far so good! Buttoned it up yesterday and then did the CVT relearn process and took it for a drive. Also took it for another drive this morning when it was colder out (30's). If anything, it seems to "shift" smoother, especially at very slow speeds (like right before coming to a stop)...
FYI, I'll be wrapping up the fluid swap to Amsoil CTV fluid in my '21 Crosstrek (OEM calls for CVTF III) here soon. Car has almost 30K on it. I pulled the pan and cleaned the pan and the magnet. Also replaced the pickup strainer with a new one. Pan had a slight grey film on it and the magnet...
I called Alec Wolffe of Idemitsu back in 2022. Funny, he used to work for Motul, where I called and spoke with him regarding Motul fluids as well a handful of years before that.
This is what he told me back in 2022.
Within Idemitsu there are two branches, one dealing with OEM fluids and one...
