Is there a website worse than Motul's?

Why don't you tone it down a little, Mr. Mission Accomplished? Have you ever been to France or Holland, or do you just watch Fox news and old war movies where the Americans are the only saviors? Good lord, 50% of the people in this country are absolutely insane, paranoid, and just plain ignorant.

M1 TSUV 5w-40 for winter New England?

Well, I guess when I have the time, I need to dig deeper into the specifications of oil. If the winter rating of these oils are based on a temperature of -13°F(-25°C), then I'm assuming the numbers would make more sense to me if that temperature was indicated on the chart. Is there a chart that...

    oil catch can

I tried this fuel filter, and it collapses under vacuum. I found this out the hard way. I spent over $100 on custom ordered brackets and multiple filters. Now THAT is a nice catch can! Nice baffle, good looks, but the price is ridiculous. I'd probably pay $100 for that. I saved the link. You...

M1 TSUV 5w-40 for winter New England?

I don't get it, either. I just stocked up on 30 quarts of the M1 5w40 T&SUV for my turbo 4 cylinder. This information has me worried about cold start ups, and is really disappointing. I thought that it would flow easily (5) in the winter? So, if this information is correct, should I switch to...

    oil catch can

You're talking about 2 different things. The valve cover breather, and the PCV. The valve cover breather is a hose that runs from the valve cover to the intake. You can put another catch can there if you want. I honestly don't understand your reasoning for turning the pcv valve upside down. It...

    oil catch can

I've been through several of those air compressor filters, including the larger, more expensive ones. There is a label on the side that clearly states not to use it with synthetic fluids, etc. I was using Mobil 1 10w30 at the time, and I don't know if the oil, or crankcase fluids did the damage...

    oil catch can

You shouldn't turn the PCV valve around. It's a one way check valve. I really don't understand what you did or why, actually, because I'm not familiar with Neon engines. All you should be doing is replacing the hose that goes from the pcv valve to your vacuum source, and have the catch can go...

    oil catch can

I'm guessing you got this "JDM" catch can on Ebay? Most of the catch cans I've seen don't have any internal baffle. I highly doubt it will make a difference which port you use. Do you have a link to a picture of it?

How can you tell how muchextra is in your oil pan?

Speaking of oil filters, that was going to be one of my questions. What size filter are you using? Before checking the fill level, did you start the car, then give it time to drain back into the pan, or check it without starting the car?

Mobil's website recommends 5w40 T&SUV for '93 and earlier Porsches

Audi Junkie, what kind of car is your beater? Doug, it's funny that you mentioned the 500 SEC, because I was going to mention the 560 SEC. I'm not a huge fan of new Mercedes cars, but that car is one of my favorites. pastmaster, what about a V12 Aston Martin, or a front engined Ferrari? You...

Mobil's website recommends 5w40 T&SUV for '93 and earlier Porsches

Thanks for the replies. It just seems strange that after a certain year, 0w40 is the recommendation. I read that the 0w40 tends to shear, is more of a thick 30 weight oil than a 40 weight, and Mobil may have done this for fuel economy. If 5w40 is good enough for Porsche, and Doug's 928 S4, then...

Mobil's website recommends 5w40 T&SUV for '93 and earlier Porsches

No, I don't have a Porsche, but I've been trying to decide on a 40 weight oil for my car, and 10w40 EP is nearly impossible to find. After hearing that 0w40 M1 is the factory fill in new Porsches, I decided to check the "help me decide" feature on Mobil's webiste to see if it's recommended for...

Which Mobil 1 for built turbo Honda...5w40 SUV or 10w40 EP?

Steve S, I couldn't find the VOA Library last night, but thank you, AndyH for posting it! One thing I've found out about the SUV oil is that it doesn't contain moly. I think this is very odd. I'm not sure if I'm ready to trust a 0w oil, especially in the summer. I'm not trying to be frugal with...

Which Mobil 1 for built turbo Honda...5w40 SUV or 10w40 EP?

Thanks, guys. You've given me a lot more to think about. I'll do some more reading about the M1 0w40, but someone stated that it's actually closer to being a 30 weight oil. 0w30 GC is unavailable in my area. I used to be able to get Redline for $6.30/quart, but that was a while ago. Decisions...

Which Mobil 1 for built turbo Honda...5w40 SUV or 10w40 EP?

They don't sell either of those at Pep Boys here, either. You have to special order it.
