So, I have been giving more thought to the HDEO idea. It looks like Delvac has the longest life expectancy due to it's high TBN of 12.0. Here are they data sheets for the HDEO's in question.

This is not a direct injection engine.
Also, I use LC20 and FP Plus. I have not started the FP Plus on the car as I want to change the fuel filter first. But, I have been adding an ounce of LC20 every 1000 miles so far.
Well, I am still under CPO warranty. So, I guess there is something to be said for using VAG approved oils. Also, it is pretty cold here right now. So, I think I will try out the LM 5w40. It is readily available at the place I buy my parts online. They sell a nice kit with the filter for cheap...

Both ..I guess. If it didn't have direct injection you would never see that level of build up due to the fuel wash. If the oil didn't volatilize all that junk ..you wouldn't see that much...
