How much ammo do you need?

4000 rounds of 9mm doesn't last through very many range trips for some.

    Remington Firearms

Me too! I just got it a couple months ago. They are not easy to find anymore. Remington received a bunch of the M24 sniper rifles back from service, built new rifles using the issued stocks, scopes, bipod, etc., then sold them as "Collectors Editions.". Many of them had the rattle can camo that...

    Remington Firearms

I think the USMC were the only ones to use the Unertl 8x scopes on the model 1903A1. As far as I know, most M1903A4 rifles used the Weaver 330 (which is called the M73B1 for military issue). Later, I think some M82 and M84 scopes made their way onto the 1903A4 but most used the M73B1. I wish I...

Weaver M8 scope on the 1903A4 but it would have originally come with the M73B1. Functionally the M8 is the same except the adjustment knob size. This rifle was sold as a "scopeless" sniper through the DCM back in the early 1960's. It really deserves to have a proper scope installed but nice...

    Tire Noise Science

The trailing edge of the tread block actually wears faster but the result is still the same - more noise. The cross-rotation (so that the tire is rotating in the opposite direction) will help to even out the "heal-toe" wear. This is a big negative of directional tread patterns. They are designed...

    Deciding on optics

ACOG TA31 4x32. These are really hard to beat. You aren't just paying for the name. These things are easy to use and extremely durable and reliable.

    Best protectant for tire sidewalls.

What are you trying to protect the sidewall from? Generally tires don't need to have any chemicals added to them. The protective agents from environment (UV, Oxygen, etc.) are all 'baked' in.

Importance of Matching Tires - Front/Rear

There can be some handling issues in situations like this. Tires have different levels of grip, vertical stiffness, torsional stiffness, response, recovery, damping, etc. and you could end up with some odd vehicle handling as a result. Just the difference in grip level from front to rear can...

    dry rot

Soap and water is really all you should use. Many of the products people put on the sidewalls to protect the rubber actually do the opposite. Tires already have anti-ozonants and anti-oxidants formulated in the rubber.

    5.56x45 NATO v 0.223 Remington

I often see people charge the first round with the muzzle tilted up. They aren't expecting the rifle to fire when the bolt closes on the round as it's chambered. Hopefully you don't experience that issue with the .223 ammo.

    Short Barrel 308

Georgia Precision makes a really nice 18" barreled tack driver called the Gladius. If you have a tight budget, though, look elsewhere.
