Just wondering where Amsoil signature falls on the 0w20 continuum? (especially in regards to direct injection engines as my CX-5 has.) There is a shop in my neighborhood offering Amsoil oil changes for around $45. I don't think that's the signature product however.

I read about the small oil passages cloging on one of the Jeep Liberty forums. Who knows if its true or not?

I'm going to use GTX 3-4 quarts of 5w20 with 1-2 quarts of 10w30 to thicken it up a little. The engine was originally speced for 10w-30 but now specs 5w-20. GTX has given great UOA in the past with the Liberty.

Just so ya know Chrysler is specing 5W-20 for the liberty 3.7 these days. I think there is more to it than just fuel economy reasons. Apparently there are some small oil passages with flow issues.

My owners manual says not to exceed 6k for oil changes under any circumstances. With the difference between dino and synthetic being less than in the past, how is synthetic justified in this instance? I've read on this forum that people have gotten better UOA results with GTX than Mobil 1 and...

Those new Amsoil filters are the best. I have a Motorcraft on my Jeep right now. GTX actually gives as good as or better analasis than Mobil 1 in some Cases. I would use GTX, Schaeffers, or Motorcraft Synthetic blend. If you must go full synthetic I would use GC or Redline.

It isn't cheap ....but its the real deal....Can you buy Redline up there?

I did use 2 quarts of the 10w30 but I don't put a lot of miles on the Jeep. I'm hoping there won't be much more really cold weather. John Browning says this engine was originally designed with 10w30 in mind.

Consumer Reports mentioned quite a while ago that OEM brand blades are the best. Of course you do pay for them. I ended up running Motorcraft blades on a Jeep Liberty. I found a pdf file from Ford listing the correct part # for my Jeep. Sorry I thought the factory blades on the Jeep were junk...

Has anybody here heard the term "mixed fleet"? Provided the viscosity is acceptable an HDEO would be fine. I believe Delvac is actually thinner once the engine reaches operating temperatures. I know it isn't what you asked but my vote is for XD3 0w-30 or Amsoil series 3000 5w-30. I believe...
