Ryobi SS30 trimmer won't stay running

I was researching this subject for a friend, and just to add to the knowledge base I read that if a small engine like this that will start but won't stay running, it could be a blocked breather hole in the fuel tank cap. If vacuum is created in the fuel tank because the tank breather (inside the...

    Air guns

In Canada, any air gun that shoots a projectile over 500 fps is a firearm and is subject to the same laws as any firearm. Under 495 fps is unregulated (except by municipal bylaw if I'm not mistaken).

    Shotgun Ammo

For HD duty, I think I'd choose my Beretta Extrema semi-auto with the plug out and loaded with 7, 2&3/4" 12g shells in #1 or 0. I can't make that thing jam for anything. From the cheapest light target loads in 2 and 3/4" to the heaviest deer loads in 3.5". It blasts them out as fast as you can...

How is Polaris's rep these days?

I have a new-to me 2004 Sportsman 500 HO. I bought it from the original owner, a friend of mine, who used it on his acreage and for exploring public lands. He told me he had no issues with it at all. When I got it, it had about 1700 miles on it, and I've put on another 300. I had carb issues...

    0W40 or 5W50 ?

I spoke to a polaris dealer yesterday for my 2004 Sportsman 500 and he advised that they only recommend 5w-50 now. They don't sell the 0w-40 any more. I still will run some petro-canada Duron 0w-40 HDEO this winter.

Any opinions on aftermarket brake pads?

I like the thermoquiets as good aftermarket replacements for a non-performance replacement pad. I like Axxis/PBR Deluxe plus to replace dusty OEM european (BMW/Audi etc.) pads. I've got probably 250,000 plus km on those recommendations.

Apparently my SOCOM II wasn't legal...

By the way, nice rifle. I've got the Sage EBR on mine. How do you like the GG&G Bipod? It's next on my list. Any regrets? Too bad no bayonet lug.

    BMW-longlife spec

There was a time a few years ago that they recommended M1 5w-30 when it was neither ACEA A3 or BMW LL01 approved. I wouldn't rely on anything BMW NA says about oil via email or phone, but instead I'd look at the LL-01 approval list.

Sick of the quality of new products

I totally agree. I would buy a Honda, Toyota, GM or Ford refridgerator made with parts made in Japan or America (or some other 1st world nation). I would pay as much as double to get a fridge/dishwasher/stove that would last 15-20 years with a 6 year warranty before I'd pay half for an item...

caught that thing with my tire

I keep a rope-plug kit and a 12v compressor in my vehicles. I've plugged 4 tires in the last 10 years on the roadside. Two were at 20% life remaining and they lasted with the rope plugs for the next 15k kms. One on my trailer I dismounted the tire, removed the rope plug and sealed with a...
