    95 ron minmum on mine. that still causes some knock in summer, but 98 doesn't. the lowest I can get is 95 ron.

    I don't know how high it was to start with, so all we can do is see if it comes down in the next 2k or so miles. if it doesn't there's likely a problem.

    we're talking fractions of a degree, not multiple degrees like 4 wheels steering and the rear wheel steering can go toe-out on the outside rear wheel, aswell as toe-in in the same corner.

    I think what is needed is an oil analysis on the next sampe. it's a 20k engine so could still be elevated si from sealants, and it seems to have slightly elevated metals still aswell.

    with a starting tbn of less than 6, I don't consider it low early.

    but a vehicle doing 5k a year causes less wear than the same doing 50k. And then there's driving style. Taxing the fuel seems to account best for relative wear, as heavier vehicles tend to need more fuel aswell. Of course, that doesn't solve the EV problem; taxing them fairly, not too much...

    the shafts wouldn't have corroded if it was parked up with a leak.....

    is that toyota a 2.3 V6 or smaller? If not it actually has a smaller sump vs the the size of the engine. And that matters, there's more to lubricate, more to seal, and more contaminants making it into the oil. I don't consider 4.2 quarts hilariously small, but wouldn't like it any smaller...
