09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

Schaeffer 167 except do they only sell that in Bulk? Just like the MOLY. Always been a firm believer in MOLY. But I think I will not use OEM fluid. Want something with extra protection since this PTU holds a whopping 2 QT's.

09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

It is in fact a AWD. And I believe it has the 6F50 transmission. What can you recommend on the PTU? I hear they dont hold enough oil. I been a schaffers oil person myself but any suggestion is appreciated. I will check out the additive listed above.

09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

Thanks for the input will look at max life. If anybody can comment on a lubrication modifier would be greatly appreciated, I don't have a ASE license but have just learned over the years. I find it stupid to run liquid with almost no viscosity in your transmission other than a new attempt for...

09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

Incredible Synthetic qualities. But again why does it look burnt after 10-15k miles in the 6F? I know fords always ran hot on there autos. There mercon V blooded Ax** trans axles turned brown very quick and had failed stuck shift solenoids quite bad for me anyway. Never dumped any lubrication...

09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

Is it Mercon Lv equal and not V or SP? I only ask cause there is considerable differences between atf +3 and atf +4 when I ran mopar in terms of shudder. I ran ATf +4 in a older ultradrive which called for atf +3 and it thanked me for it big time. But my question is this stuff is super thin. To...

09 ford flex mercon lv? Ok or not enough lube?

Just got a 09 ford flex with the ford/gm 6f transmission. It calls for mercon Low viscosity. I always do fluid changes whenever I get a new/used car. This stuff seems like water. I know they run this to get more MPG but I always dumped a bottle of Lucas in to keep viscosity up in previous cars...

    Engine Nosier with full synthetic?

I used to use RP, Until I found schaffers. It has a similar chemistry which I feel is even better than RP, Bottom line is I think I will stick with there 7000. That oil is what they advertise the most, It has always run quiet, reliable, long lasting and never let me down. And the 9000 is...

    Engine Nosier with full synthetic?

Nope, Same oil filter brand. I see I am not the only one with noise. Why is that? I thought a full Syn is supposed to be the greatest. But the engine noise speaks for itself. I am switching back to a semi syn from now on. Or should I leave it in the engine and it will subside after running it...

    Engine Nosier with full synthetic?

So I always use schaffers 7000 10-30 or 10-40w oil, Today I thought I give there 9000 5-40w a try, Its the only 9000 my dealer carried, Oil pressure seems slightly higher and power is abit more responsive except the engine makes all kind of new noises coming from the bottom end, Not bad bearing...

Motor oil in a manual trans?

I know its hard to believe, But it calls for 10-30w SAE motor oil. I believe every tempature extreme must have been taken into consideration with them stating that so it has a easy shifting trans no matter what the tempature is. BTW, Its a yamaha banshee atv if it helps matters. Thanks for the...

Motor oil in a manual trans?

Yeah you just read my mind. Motor oils are to designed to keep a thin film between smooth surfaces like cylinder walls, cams lobes ect, ATF is for a totally different thing to. Gears slam together metal to metal slaming together and when riding the trails hard and fast the rear wheels hop off...

Motor oil in a manual trans?

Its not new, I also live in a very hot climate, The reason I choose this is that it is recommended for use in limited slip differentials which also have wet clutches. The lack of glitter to me means its being heavyily protected under shock load conditions. This is very high speed atv. I know its...

Motor oil in a manual trans?

I have a ATV which has a manual trans, So its got gears and a wet clutch and it gets used hard, ATV's have alot of shock loading. It calls for 10w-30 motor oil or ATF! Here is the thing, After only a few short rides using what the manual calls for the oil turns to glitter, So I said the...

2 stroke oil? Klotz vs amsoil

Noted above. Dieseltech is right, There is nothing overkill for one of the badest quads ever made. I could of had a [censored], Opps sorry yamaha raptor 700 but was not interested at all. I will run 5 gallons of dominator through it probably every so often. I done some more research since this...
