    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Yup, notched it as in Transgo and your directions.

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

UPDATE: After 4 months and about 2,000 miles, I'm happy to report that the transmission is doing very well, with the exception of the occasional 2-3 and 3-2 shift "clunk" that GM released a TB on (stating that it's normal). Otherwise it's behaving exacly like what we wanted, and the working...

    Zero turn experiences?

I've been mowing an 11-acre property with a lot of trees (sticks and stones) for 16 years now, using a 2005 Gravely 48" machine. I also tow trailers around with it, have pulled logs, and otherwise abused it. It's an absolute tank, and I love it. 21hp Kawasaki engine has been trouble free with...

    Quality Quadrajet Carb?

https://quadrajetpower.com/ He's built 3 for me over the years, and does excellent work. Highly recommend at least talking to him.

What are you working on today?

Kept working on pressure-washing the Camp's swimming pool. At 40 feet wide and 80 feet long, it's like clearing the screen of a GIANT Etch-a-Sketch.

@clinebarger - Looong story short, SUCCESS!!! Assembled the rest of the transmission, triple-checking everything (https://www.youtube.com/@transmissionbench7842 is a terrific resource). As far as I can tell, we made two mistakes, both kinda-sorta understandable (I know, I'm rationalizing...)...

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

I'm baack, hahaha Only thing I've found blatantly wrong so far is that we got the pump ring's oring and steel sealing ring installed reverse order (not that hard to to imho, given the low-res pics in the books. So the Steel sealing ring was in the groove, and the oring was between it and the...

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Nothing new, life and work sucked me away from this project - which stinks since I'm down a vehicle until I get this back together. Next up is vacuum testing the pump, when I get a chance (and its not 8 degrees F in the shop.)

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Yup, that wasn't it - in fact the PC Solenoid won't seat unless the AFL bore plug is in all the way. Dangit, I still haven't found anything glaringly wrong... Did a proper vacuum test today, clean and dry valve body and properly calibrated test stand. TCC Regulator Valve (outboard) = 16.6" TCC...

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Found one thing that i'm pretty sure I did wrong... @clinebarger , what do you think? When reassembling the valve body, I noticed that the retaining clip for the plug behind the AFL valve / spring goes into the 4th "slot" in from the edge, and that to get it in (with the additional TransGo...

Yup, soaked the frictions for a couple days actually. Also replacing the Forward and Reverse Abuse Plugs.

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Ive got oringed bore plugs on the way. Forward or Reverse Abuse Bore Plugs? Also, when vacuum testing, should the valves be wet or dry? I tested mine just as it came off the case (wet) which may account for the high vacuum readings.

    Newly-rebuilt 4L60E lost 3rd gear within 20 miles, sigh...

Will do when we assemble, great tip! Vacuum tested the pump and valve body this afternoon, the lowest reading was 19 inches at the 4-3 sequence and 3-4 relay valves, most were 20-21 inches. EXCEPT - the 'upper' passage of the Forward Abuse Valve (upper blue arrow) wouldnt hold ANY vacuum, even...
