Didn't think about that, at the same time removing the rear bank valve cover in the car is not fun. I had a 2GR-FE in a 2010, that thing was running great at 263k miles before getting totaled and never had to do any valve adjustments. But for now, the noise is gone from using this oil, so...

Just bought it straight from my dealer for around $7 a quart. Decent price actually. Amazon and other places seem to be the same. These engines don't have manual valve adjustments.

It actually helped quite a bit, at times I will still hear the tick when it's really hot outside, but now with the Toyota oil I barely hear it and never hear it being louder at higher rpms. Recently these past few days I have not heard it ticking at all.

VVT-I filters are clean, no dirt in them at all. At this point I'm stumped as over 3k Rpms as the sound starts to go away. So oil pressure issue to the valves then?

Noise is back after driving a little while with 5W-30, 5W-30 actually made the noise a bit worse but switched back to 0W-20 and now it's quieter. So, back to step 1, From a local mechanic a few weeks ago told me that it's normal noise these 2GR-FE's have sometimes so I shouldn't worry about it...

Yeah, I went ahead and dumped a bottle of the Liqui moly, I'll see if it changes anything after driving a few hundred miles which shouldn't be hard as this vehicle drives about 100+ miles a day. Then I'll update this thread.

Well, that would suck I guess, should I still put in 5w-30? The engine looks good, doesn't look it's sludged up in the valve covers. Engine doesn't even burn 1 drip of oil either. Would possibly cleaning the engine out help with something like people do in videos? I'll look at the exhaust make...

101k I started to hear it quite a while ago, I've been hearing it since around 82k+ but I wasn't noticing it as much back then, could be cause I wasn't trying to listen to it. I bought it with 77k miles didn't hear it back then. I guess I started hearing it more after I changed the oil.

Alrighty will do, I did have a 2010 Sienna, had the same engine but used 5W-30 and it still ran perfectly with no noise at 263k miles.

I do have some videos I posted of the sound last month if you want to listen to it. I'll post them on here as well but I may be a bit exaggerating but it isn't that quiet either when stopped at stop lights That is true, I'm defiantly probably jumping to conclusions as I just want to get it...

Haha yeah that is defiantly true, got to take everything you read these days on the internet with a grain of salt. I know a lot of people use Mobil 1 on these Toyota's and it's fine, ticks though when it's only when hot so It is oil related that is for sure.

I've been using Mobil 1 0w20, I've been thinking of switching to something else as I've read a few threads of mobil 1 being the cause of ticking lifters but I'm not exactly sure if that's the cause though.
