The anti-drain back feature in the Kohler filter is there to prevent dry start ups. Most cheap lawn mower filters don't have this feature and can cause excessive wear.

A word of caution on using Rotella sold for diesel engine use. Rotella is a very high detergent oil and can cause excessive wear to small gasoline engines especially the ones with plastic cam lobes.

Since Canola oil is a man made product and does not exist in nature it must be synthetic.
