Honestly don't remember. It wasn't anything exotic. Whatever the standard M1 0w20 was back then. Maybe a high mileage variant here or there. I used Toyota filters exclusively.
100% agree.
Also I don't understand why people would switch away from it once they've had marked improvement. I know there are great oils out there for similar or slightly less money, such as Mobil 1, but R&P is the only one that seems to be able to stop and then reverse the carbon buildup that...
Valvoline's mistake would be slapping Valvoline Restore and Protect on everything they can and diluting the brand and usefulness of the oil itself. Obviously it's a game changer, and they've got a home run, but if everything says "restore and protect" you tend to look at it as more gimmicky.
Was there any discussion on this here? Is it just a label or is there a formulation difference? Not that it really matters to me but just curious.
Edit: found the answer. Maybe a slightly different formula but still good. Glad I found this site and go it, it's done wonders for my Prius.
Yeah I saw they upgraded the AWD system. Honestly I like my hacked XLT and Comma.ai box, and really like the front ends of the 22-24's more than the 25+. Also I like the tactile environmental controls on the 22-24's. I'll keep mine for now, and see what they come out with in '28.
In 10 years...
I ordered 4x 5 qt jugs at my local walmart for delivery and got them, it's the older bottle but that puts me into 2028 needing oil so should be OK by then (hopefully!).
FWIW I ran Mobil 1 @ 10k exclusively in our 2010/3rd gen Prius and it started burning oil around 135k. They are known for it. Switched to Valvoline Restore and Protect and within 10k/two OCIs the oil burning had stopped. Toyota initially said to do 5k intervals, but changed to 10k at some point...
Lots of likes, not a ton of dislikes.
Pros for me:
perfect size, easy to park etc
hauls just enough to be useful (4x8 sheets, 1500 lb payload; newer models tow 4000 lbs, mine is 2000 lbs)
MPG of course, over 12,000 miles I've averaged 37 mpg city/highway in the SE USA
eCVT should be...
