I research it heavily and saw that early models had a piston issue but the mechanic where I bring my car for work said he hasn't seen very very few 18s in and no 19 or 20s in the shop with any issues
Well after both hwy and stop and go for the past 4 days.....I like the car better then the Forester. More comfortable, better mpg and more convenience. Cons... same HP as forester, less cargo too.
Just have to worry about this engine, I'll change the oil every 5000 miles w/ Ow20. It should keep...
I checked Vauxhall with the same 1.5t and it uses 5w30. I also went to the Euro oil web sites and 5w30 is the oil of choose. I know with the Forester 0w20 was CAFE driven. I still have 3 - 5qt jugs of 0w20 laying around, maybe I'll use them between my car and mother in laws car before giving 30...

Enjoy your new ride. It just puzzles why you spend five years paying off the Subie - then not enjoy the rewards...
I traded in my 15 Forester yesterday for 20 Equinox. Engine performance feels the same but it is much more comfortable. I was reading the manual and the turbo uses 0w20. I really think that's thin for a turbo. Anyone using 30 wt in these engines?
Dealers floor plan the car which means these cars are sitting on the lot and are accruing interest. They have to move them. If this shutdown goes on till mid May you will get great deals. My wife work at a dealership as a financial mgr before retiring. She shakes here head trying to figure how...
Thanks for the pictures. I just put a STP 6607 ML in my subi. 2000 miles ago. So far so good, oil still very clean. They look like good quality filters.
